The man in the mirror
He wasn’t amused
By the clothes he had on
They felt ever so small
He was left in the hall
Laughing at a joke of his own
Well he had to do something
He looked up in the sky
Thought he saw a cloud go by
Felt his woman cry
That was his alibi
Became a passer by
Wondering where he was
He was lonely
And wondering where he was
Out the corner of his eye he saw a man
Looking just like he did
He turned around to see
Who the man could be
But he only saw his reflection
Looking back at him
And talking .. talking back at him
And it said ..
Don’t look at me like that
Or I might look at you back
Don’t look at me like that
My name is - your name
I’ve lived here for a long time
I know you like the back of my hand
And if you want to find a friend
Who can put you right
Well I’m your man
Uh huh huh Come with me
They ain’t got nothing on me
Uh huh huh
They ain’t got nothing
O no no nothing
They got nothing on me
Uh huh huh - Oh ho ho
A ha ha
The man in the mirror
He wasn’t amused
By the clothes he had on
They felt ever so small
He was left in the hall
Laughing at a joke of his own
Well he had to do something
And the people inside denied
And the people outside just cried
And the people in the middle
Had the answer to the riddle
But they didn’t let on
Aw come on
You’re driving me crazy
Aw come on
You’re driving me mad
Aw come on
You’re driving me crazy
Someone cried
And someone else died
I bet you’re wondering what
the man in the mirror said

Song story I originally wrote the lyric to this song in 1975 and first recorded it as Phantasy Circus with older brother DJ Lazer and Steffe Sharpstrings, formerly of Gong, in 1977. 25 years on, this 2003 remake was a joy to work with Roberto Luz, though the arrangement is little changed from the original
Credits Jeza - acoustic guitar, vocal, bass guitar, bodhran, cymbals, whispertree, samples, production - CoolEditPro. John Hoare - lead guitar recorded live, June 2002. Roberto Luz - flute - recorded in Guatemala. DJ Lazer - assorted skins and repercussion
