What's being said about Jeza ..
Bud Bennett on 'You're the One' - first impressions !!
Wowzers! truly awesome. i'm completely blown away at the quality of the recording and the music. very excellent. sort of a cross between john mayall's bluesbreakers and ole black water by the doobies (? my memory fades, you know the tune anyway). great vocal, harp fills occasionally, female backup vocals occasionally, an awesome mix of acoustic and electric guitars, lots of flange. man, this music is completely top notch. i'm hooked ..
on 'Jeza wined up'
jeza wined up - how do i start? probably by saying that i have listened to this cd many many times. that in itself says quite a lot as i have hundreds of cd's at my house to choose from ... and why do i listen to it over and over you ask? well let me tell you ...
Jeza has written and performed a number of different styles on wined up. anyone remotely familiar with my own music knows that i love variety. in wined up, jeza has reggae, folk, pop and interesting blends of styles hard to describe. the music is largely acoustic based and features jeza's excellent vocals. the instrumentation on the album is excellent, interesting and varied. when wined up arrived in the mail at my house, i put it on the stereo and the song circumstances started a spontaneous dance party! this song and others are catchy upbeat feel-good songs. lyrically, jeza has a lot to say and he says it in a way that's easy to understand and identify with.
Besides Circumstances, the song that i remember most often is 'how can i help you?'. through corresponding with jeza throughout the past several months, i'm thinking he wakes up each morning wondering how he can do just that, help people. jeza is a good friend and invaluable source of information and inspiration. rock on JEZA! bud
on 'Man in the Mirror'
Wow Jeza, I love the new Man in the Mirror. I think it has a definitely cool and almost eerie feeling to it that matches the subject matter and the lyrics. I think really, the way you have the background of this song so busy and different from Roberto's flute makes this song an ultra headtrip sort of reflective piece. You've done a fab job on the mix and Roberto and DJLazer add SOOOOO much to this tune. The guitar interlude around 4:13 is very tasty too. Double thumbs up Jeza!
