bulletNational Alfa Day - 5 July 2009

The club staged its biggest event of the year in the beautiful grounds of Newby Hall near Ripon in Yorkshire. Over 700 Alfa Romeos attended at what's been described as one of the best AROC gatherings in years. Our Section members were there in force, several of our cars arriving in convoy early in the morning. The event featured the biggest gathering of Alfasuds in recent memory with 31 present. With superb cars in the Concours d'Elegance, an Autotest, our section picnic, two Alfa 8Cs, superb dealer displays and the elegant house and gardens, and not forgetting some great weather, all in all it was a superb day out.

bulletKarting Night - 18 June 2009

We had a brilliant time  competing in a team endurance event at the Sutton Circuit in Leicestershire - one of our five AROC teams winning overall and a second coming third!  It was a great chance for the younger members in our section to show the rest of us a thing or too as well. In particular, StJohn Krog, Alex Sangster, Aden and Lewis Flanagan, George Bunney and David Griffiths. See www.suttoncircuit.co.uk for circuit details.

bulletSection Fun Concours Night, June 2009

Our Fun Concours night is one of the most popular events on our local calendar, and despite some drizzle no less than 28 of our cars attended  over 40 people came along to The Bulls Head this year and enjoyed casting their eyes over the collected machinery, voting on categories as diverse as shiniest paintwork to most stone chips.  Thanks go to IntaServices and Engine Services in Leicester, and Sturgess Alfa Leicester for providing some very generous prizes.  'Car of the Night' this year went to Peter and Eileen Crichton with their splendid beige 1750 GTV, owned from 6 months old and in fabulous original condition.

bulletAuto Italia Italian Car Concours - Stanford Hall, 7 June 2009

Around 250 Alfa Romeos braved the awful weather on this Summer Sunday - 10 degrees and heavy rain. Happily the sun broke through at lunchtime and we all enjoyed a pleasant, dry afternoon.  AROC ran a Public Vote Concours, thanks to our Section's organisation, which three of our members entered.  Ian Osborne won 'Best Saloon' for his stunning 164, whilst Clare Addison scored well with her GT in the 'moderns' category, and George Cole with his 145 racer.

bulletSpring Alfa Day - 3 May 2009
Over 600 Alfa Romeos landed at The Shuttleworth Collection at Old Warden in Bedfordshire for the historic aeroplane collection's first flying day of the year. Good weather certainly brought out the crowds, but following our Section's convoy run down there from Kettering we all had a cracking day.

bulletClassic Motor Show - NEC Birmingham, 14-16 November 2008

The AROC stand was possibly our best yet at this the largest classic car show in the UK. Alfa's racing heritage was the theme, topped off by David Platt's 8C Competizione that reflects the iconic styling of Alfa's past racing coupes. This beautiful machine was flanked by Ian Skailes' Giulia TZ and Paul & Matt Grist's Giulia TZ2 - both incredibly rare and valuable machines. Angus McLeod brought his wonderful road-racing 1956 1900 CSS Zagato, and we were delighted to also have along James Wheeler's 1972 Alfa A12 transporter with his cracking Giulia 101 Spider race car.  Quite a collection!

bulletThe Fox Run, 25 May 2008

Bryan Alexander designed a terrific route through the beautiful Vale of Belvoir from the Comfort Inn on the A46 near Willoughby, winding its way over to Belvoir Castle then back to The Royal Oak at Car Colston - the village with the largest Village green in the UK - for an excellent pub lunch. The run involved a competition element; closest to the marker time, plus some Treasure Hunt style tie-breaker questions.  Our winners were Mark and Jacqui Wood in their 156 Sportwagon.  A great event, well done to all the 21 participants!
