         I am currently training and preparing a fencer for the 2012 Olympics.

 

Over the past 20 years I have trained hard to constantly improve my coaching skills, and hold a Diploma in Foil, Epee and Sabre from the British Academy of Fencing. I am a full Master/Professor in the art of fencing.

 

For 6 years I sat on the committee of the British Academy of Fencing.

 

I have trained, assisted and tutored for the Academy’s residential courses, I am a

Senior Coach Educator and Examiner of the British Academy of Fencing.  I am also a member of the British Academy of Fencing, Academie d’Armes Internationale and the British Fencing Association.

 

I have written an up to date coaching manual: Coaching Today.

 

I teach/coach in Schools, Colleges, Universities, Sports Centres, I have choreographed fight scenes for stage productions in various groups including Dick Turpin and have

written a fight scene for a novel.

 

I have three trainee coaches serving 2 year apprenticeship’s to become fully qualified coaches.  I  have an ongoing coaching course in Dublin, Southern Ireland and Jersey, Channel Island.  I have spent a period of time in Perth, Australia, running a coaching course for the Australian Sports Council.  I also run training and Coach Education days in the UK each year.

I am the Coach Educator and Coaching Co-ordinator for the Royal Air Force.

 

I am a Coach Educator and Examiner and I am listed on the Child Protection and

Coaching Register of the British Fencing Association.

 

I am registered and have been checked by the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), and I have Ofsted clearance for the Tigers (U8) Club holiday play scheme at Churchill Sports

Centre.

I began coaching at the Army school of PT in Aldershot, under the joint coaching committee of the BAF & AFA

1976 Foil part 1 & 2, 1977 Epee Part 1 & 2, 1978 Sabre part 1

 

Between 1976 and 1980, I became manager, coach & team member for an English team in Germany. The team qualified for the Army finals every year. I also qualified personally.  We toured Europe regularly and were extremely successful in all competitions.  I have also fenced for several German clubs.

 

During the next eight years I qualified in all aspects of mountaineering.  On returning to the United Kingdom in 1988, I dusted off my swords and started fencing/coaching once more.  In 1989, I passed the Advanced Foil of the British Academy of Fencing.

 

I spent a number of years organising competitions and preparing fencers to compete successfully in the UK and Europe.

 

I have been a full time professional fencing coach since 1990, in attendance throughout the South West of England.

 

I have trained and coached fencers to a high standard achieving many awards:

         British Cadet (U17) Foil and Epee Champion

         British Junior Foil (U20) Champion

         Semi Finalist in the World Cadet Foil Championships

         Army Champion (Foil, Epee & Sabre), Army Master of Arms
