MAURICE COLEMAN & JIM HARWOOD
Bar open 7pm - 12.30am admission £3.00 Ths is perhaps a once in a lifetime chance! Now somewhere in the region of 80 years old, (still steadfastly maintaining that age is not important, and I guess he's the living proof of the truth of that!) Maurice Coleman does not play live as much as he used to (he clocked up well over 1,000 gigs at the Attik in the old days), but his voice is still as amazing and enchanting as ever, and his music-hall style of guitar playing is sadly a dying art. Catch him while you still can! It is looking like Jim's exodus to Wales is ever more imminent (see biography) and this could well be his "farewell to Leicester" gig. It is hoped the concert will be recorded, so a packed house would only add to the atmosphere of what promises to be one of the best gigs this year! Be there or be sorry!
DATE TO BE ANNOUNCED
THE ATTIK 15a FREE LANE LEICESTER
JIM HARWOOD, WILL PARFITT & P.J. BAKER
This will possibly be sometime in April or May. "Hollerin'" Will Parfitt has been a stalwart of the Leicester folk roots scene longer than many people can remember, more often than not playing support for nationally known performers. (Don't be fooled by that baby face, Howlin' Will has made his own pact with the devil!) This gig is planned as a recording session for a projected CD so a good audience would be appreciated. Anyone who is a fan of Will's fingerpickin' blues style owes it to themselves to be there, and Jim promises not to repeat many of the poems he will be performing on the Maurice Coleman night. It is within the bounds of possibility that Jim will have moved to Wales by the time this one comes around, so you could call it his "Welcome back to Leicester" gig... watch this space!
