Skye!
Our whatseemstobebecomingannual spell of R&R was this year blessed
with almost constant greyness, rain and wind, which serves us right for
having had endless sunshine last year. However it was far from
depressing; I like weather in all forms, and, indeed, would prefer
endless grey to endless sun. Wind and rain, with clouds scudding about
in the strong winds (force 9 to 10 when I was there on my own for the
first week) are positives in my book.Photographcally the absence of key light was a challenge, but an excercise in tones is no bad thing. I'm going to start off with my favourite; ![]() I don't know if this is a product of the particular scan or not, but the sky on prints of this look as if they were drawn in with a slightly granular pen and wash. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() Just up the lane from our (rented in case you get the wrong idea) cottage is an old school, and this is the remains of the school yard. I hope the children weren't told off for looking out of the window. Yashica Mat FP4 ![]() Blaven. This, and others to follow like it, all taken from just outside the cottage. No other houses about, just us and the sea and sky and mountains... no wonder we keep going back. Nikon D80 Sigma zoom ![]() Looking south, with some sun! OM2 Zuiko 28mm FP4 ![]() A beach slightly further round the bend. Still Blaven dominating, and still but a walk away from base. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() There's an old fort just up the hill behind the cottage, which we only found this year... Even in the gales there was calm here as the wind rode up the surrounding slopes and shot over the top. Look! Sun again (all the sunny pictures were taken on the same day! The same morning actually. Just an hour or two). M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() More fort. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() A day out in the car, but not far away from base camp. OM2 Zuiko 28mm FP4 ![]() Into the light above a wood. In print form the leaves look as if they were brushed on. Elmartastic! M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() From just outside our cottage. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() Hillside path. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() Head of the loch - 5mins walk. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 ![]() Ah! I found this one lurking at the start of a roll that then came to Wales. I like this. M2 Elmar 35mm FP4 Onto the posts! These can't have been in place that long as fences tend to fall apart after, what, 20 years? However, each post-top had a mossy micro-garden on the top, or on the side as in this first one, which is also not a moss. I should have put this first one last, but I'm not going to. Real fun to find. All taken with Nikon D80 Sigma zoom ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And that's it; Skye - will we be able to resist going again next year? Top of page |
