My interest in computers started with having to write letters to head masters of schools. I wanted to mail well presented documents, in the shortest time possible (tipex looks terrible). An electronic typewriter was considered, but still had it’s limitations. Then one of my schools lent me a computer which was excellent. Letters then became presentable.
I bought a second hand computer and printer of my own and enrolled on a typing course so that I could use the keyboard properly. Now, being an inquisitive person, I wanted to know why a letter appeared on the screen when a key was pressed. So, I took the computer apart and after reading several books, studying and taking several courses, I was able to put it back together (and make it work)! I then designed my first computer to my own specification.
After several years, I have now my own computer company designing and building computers to individual specifications depending on the needs of the client. I design and install web-sites and produce technical drawings (floor plans of houses) for estate agents. I advise, install, maintain and upgrade systems for individuals, as well as local area networks. |
