This is the second year of fishing as a leisure sport, a relaxing one to enjoy the good English Summers - Fishing !
I think my wife is rather surprised at the contrast in activity or should I say none activity but nevertheless, I must admit I find the whole thing very different and most pleasurable. My childhood memories of fishing in the Gloucestershire countryside with my best friend David, who now is a Water Bailiff amongst other things, are being re-kindled !
I have inherited everything I need from a dear friend of my family, and intend to try and enjoy the sport as much as he did. My partner in crime Tony and myself, visit local west country lakes when we can and I have now ventured from Somerset into Dorset, Devon and Gloucestershire.
This years effort with David and Tony and other friends started with a couple of 16lb Carp. I am pleased to say after fishing all summer, I have learned the tricks of the trade and my greatest achievement to date is a whooping 21lb 20z Carp. I look forward to more of this peaceful sport, close to nature in the beautiful English countryside – perhaps in the warmer weather ! |
