A very tight pair that require a steady
and transparent sky to observe at high

Star was very low to the SW horizon
when imaged making the Seeing poor, so
not a clear seperation of the 'A' & 'B'
stars but the companion can just about
be seen as a dark smear. Needs reimaging
later in 2006 and measures to be taken.

An easy Double in small scopes
but quite tricky to separate the
very close AB binary. Primary
is white F8V class. The 'C-star' is
G8V. I did not notice the'B-star'
at the time of observation, am
pleased that it is visible on
the resulting image.
Period of orbit AB stars is 59.yrs.
Separation range is 0.6" to 1.2".
Period of orbit of C-Star is 1,150 yrs.
Urgent measurement by myself is required! |

Although there are 3 stars visible, there
is a spectroscopic companion to the A-Star,
making this a quadruple system. Iota is one of
the hottest and most luminious stars in
the constellation of Orion. It will go
Supernova in the near future...on a
cosmic time-scale, that is! |

Although there are 4 stars visible, there
is a spectroscopic companion to the A-Star,
making this a system of 5 stars. It is worth noting
that the C-star is the faintest of them all. |

This triple star is the only known system that
displays three different types of star. The
Primary is yellow G9V class. The other two
components are dwarf stars. A red dwarf
type dM4.5Ve and a white dwarf of type DA.
Also it is the only system where the dwarf
stars can easily be seen. |
