I first came across this colourful idea to promote our hobby at Robin Matthysen's website which featured his N-Scale layout MABERLY and TAYSIDE. Robin told me that the idea originated in the United States but is spreading Worldwide. As of yet, there does not seem to be any standards so when designing an e-pass you are free to be as creative as you wish. The old historic railway passes tended to be plain but there are already a variety of styles as you will see in the E-Pass gallery.The files are saved and sent in the GIF or JPEG modes to allow faster transfers.Size seems to vary from 540 to 550 pixels wide and 250 to 260 pixels high. Some are bigger so there is really no limit. Sadly, Robin passed away in October 2005 and although his website and layout no longer exist he will be remembered as a great modeller by all who exchanged E-passes with him.

I am no longer issuing "Swiss Trains" E-Passes but I will always value the ones that I have received over the years.
