I first came across this colourful idea to promote our hobby at Robin Matthysen's website which featured his N-Scale layout MABERLY and TAYSIDE. Robin told me that the idea originated in the United States but is spreading Worldwide. As of yet, there does not seem to be any standards so when designing an e-pass you are free to be as creative as you wish. The old historic railway passes tended to be plain but there are already a variety of styles as you will see in the E-Pass gallery. The files are saved and sent in the GIF or JPEG modes to allow faster transfers.Size seems to vary from 540 to 550 pixels wide and 250 to 260 pixels high. Some are bigger so there is really no limit.
Sadly, Robin passed away in October 2005 and although his website and layout no longer exist he will be remembered as a great modeller by all who exchanged E-passes with him.
Anyone who has visited this page before might remember that I used
to have a choice of two e-passes. Both of these passes made reference to my former N-scale model railway "Sustenbahn"
and as it no longer exists I thought it prudent to issue a new pass to more accurately reflect the contents of
my present site. When my new layout starts to develop I will probably issue another model railway pass but until
then you are welcome to request your personalised copy of my "Swiss Trains" pass. I will continue to
use the same numbering system as I do not not think it would be fair, to those who already possess my original
passes, if I started again from No.0001. (If any of the current pass-holders would like to change to the new pass,
please let me know and I will be more than happy to oblige) If you would like a personalized E-Pass, similar
to the one above, please send me an e-mail with your name, and your home city/state/country
Needless to say, if you already have an e-pass,
then I would appreciate receiving one to display on these pages and use as a link to your site.
Please note:
Your e-mail address will not be published unless you are offering an E-PASS and this is the accepted method of
contacting you.
