Because of the limited space available, "Sustenbahn" is a very compact layout. However, I could not bear the thought of only running small railcars and branchline trains so from the very beginning I decided that a compromise had to be struck between my personal enjoyment and realism. The main station, Zweikirchen Bahnhof and the hidden storage sidings are designed to accommodate passenger trains with a maximum of 5 cars and freight trains of an equivalent length. The passenger cars are generally kept in fixed sets which represent the types of train most often seen on the SBB and BLS main lines. In compiling this feature it is my intention to give the modeller with limited space some idea of the locos and rolling-stock that are required to create a reasonable representation of the various types of Swiss trains. For each train type there is a general photo which links to a more detailed photographic description. I will be adding to the train types as time permits and will eventually try to cover all the passenger trains operating on the "Sustenbahn" together with some examples of typical Swiss freight trains.
