	The Friends of TN
	RUNNING CNTN costs several thousand pounds a year. So where does the money come from? The Rotary Club of Crewe, who set up the talking newspaper in November 1977, is still a main contributor. The Sentinel evening newspaper made a very generous donation from funds raised by their football competition. This enabled us to "go digital" - purchasing a computer to help us produce the weekly tapes. We also have welcome support from the local authorities and local charities such as the St Vincent de Paul Society and the Crewe Voluntary Service. There are also one-off donations from somebody wishing to say "Thank you" for something, or, on a sad note, Listeners leave us a bequest in their Will. We have fund raisers such as Eric Robinson MBE who has walked many a mile (with TN stalwart Ray Gladden MBE, JP) to raise money. Another Volunteer finds car boot sales are a good source of income. Two very generous legacies in 2008 boosted our funds and gave us a stable basis with which to continue our work. And then there are the Friends of TN. The previous CNTN Chairman, Patrick Grange, launched the Friends of TN as a way of standing on our own two feet when it came to funding - in parallel with the outside help. You can sign up as a Friend and agree to pay anything from £2 - monthly, quarterly or annually. And if you are a UK taxpayer you could boost your donation by signing a Gift Aid form. We can then reclaim the tax you paid, making £2 (say) into £2.56 a month. That's an extra £6.72 a year that won't cost you a penny.
