Microsoft Word: Headers & Footers

Headers and footers are areas at the top and bottom of each page in your document that can contain information that is separate from the content of your document.  Typical uses for headers and footers include page numbers, publication date, author information, etc.
View placing WordArt in the Header/Footer View placing ClipArt in the Header/Footer
  1. Go to the View menu then to the Header and Footer
  2. Your document will appear to be faded out and there will be text boxes at the top and bottom of each page. Type your header and footer information into these boxes and then click OK.
  3. Your header and footer information will now appear on every page of your document.  If you wish it to appear only on specific pages you will need to first insert Section Breaks.

The Header/Footer area is a perfect place to put a watermark because it doesn’t interfere with any of the rest of the document text.  Text and graphics can be used as watermarks.
