John is the youngest Councillor in Carmarthenshire and one of the ten youngest Councillors in the whole of Wales. He was elected onto both councils on Thursday, 6th May 2004 and is committed to Standing up for Llanelli on the councils that he serves.

John also serves on the Social Justice and the Planning Committee of Carmarthenshire County Council and on the Selwyn Samuel Management Committee of Llanelli Town Council. He is a governor of Old Road Primary School and Bryngwyn Comprehensive School.
