I offer personal tuition in Maths and Physics, in the Swadlincote, Burton, Ashby area, either teaching one on one or to small groups. My focus is always on the particular student or students and their needs. I prefer to teach in a friendly informal manner and to focus on understanding and exam technique.

I got into teaching after a period of illness prevented me from continuing my previous work in academic Physics research at Exeter University. As I could no longer work full-time I decided to work voluntarily as a teaching assistant at a local college. This mainly involved teaching Maths to adults and disabled people with a wide range of ability from basic numeracy to GCSE standard.
The voluntary teaching then led onto personal tuition after a family friend asked me to help his daughter with her GCSE Maths. From this I slowly built up my personal tuition by offering other subjects familar to me from my scientific background.
As I do not currently drive I only teach from my home in Church Gresley which is near to Swadlincote in South Derbyshire. I am conviently located within easy travelling distance of Burton On Trent, Ashby de la Zouch, Woodville, Newhall, Measham and Barton Under Needwood.

While I'm happy for parents to wait in another room if they wish, I do not usually allow them to wait in the same room, as it can be a distraction for the student.
