Drowned by walking into River Medway (suicide)

William A was given the surname Peckham on his marriage certificate, but christened Packham. In the 1881 census he was recorded as being on the vessel Mosquito at Halling in Kent which is just up river from Strood and Rochester.

The Kelly's directories for 1882 and 1891 record a William Packham as being a fishmonger at 120 High Street, Strood.  Which William this is, or even if he is part of this family is unknown so far.

A possible additional child in this family is Ernest.  The record of his burial on 3 Dec 1872 in Strood aged 5 weeks fits in with the birth/christening dates of the other children, but there is no record of his christening in the Strood register.

Caroline already had two children by the time she was married, Caroline Allen (c. 24 Jun 1860) and Michael Allen (c. 11 Jun 1860). The father was not recorded for either.
