NOTES:
Williams Surname appears as several spellings - appearing as Shephard, Shephard and Sheppard. He lived in Brook Street, Wymeswold for most of his life. In 1861 he was living with his father who runs a farm of 190 Acres, William is working as the stock Tender. After his fathers death in 1868 he becomes the head of the household continuing to farm at Wymeswold Lodge. By 1881 shortly before his death he is living with his family and six other borders and servants at Sheppard's Farm. He died on the 24th of July 1882 of Heart Disease.

NOTES:
Betsy Follows was born on September 20th 1845 in East Leake, Nottinghamshire. Her Father
Joseph Follows was a Farmer. They moved from East Leake to Brook Street Wymeswold in the
1850's and lived at Follows Dwelling. In Wymeswold she met her Husband William Sheppard
also a Farmer's Son living on Brook Street. Her Husband William build up a large farm but
he was to die at the age of 46 in 1882. Betsy became the head of the household until her
son Harry was old enough to take the farm on. They moved to Church Farm on Far Street
where they first rented and then bought the property. Alma James also remembers that Betsy
lived in a house on East Road. In later life she lived in one of the four small cottages
at the Brook Street end of Church Street.
