HOW DID YOU START OFF JUNIOR HANDLING?
I started Junior Handling when I was 8 and a half years old when we lived in England.
DO YOU TAKE PART IN ANY OTHER DOGGY ACTIVITIES (OBEDIENCE,AGILITY,FLYBALL,ETC)?
No.
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU LIVE WITH,OWN AND/OR SHOW?
We live with and own, two English Springer Spaniels
WHICH ONES DO YOU USE FOR JUNIOR HANDLING AND WHY?
I like the bigger breeds because they move so elegant, I like showing English Springers, Pointer, Afghan and Golden Retriever best because I like the energy what these dogs show when they move.
WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN BEFORE IN COMPETITION?
I have shown, Cocker, American, Welsh and Springer spaniel, Airedale, Setters, Afghan, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Australian Shepherd, Malamute, Husky, Bichon Frise, Poodle, Kerry Blue, Golden Retriever, Pointer, I think that’s most of them.
TELL US ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE (SHOWING STYLE) YOUR BREED IN JUNIOR HANDLING CLASSES?
ESS are stacked and held at their head and their tail. But we are also told to freestand our dogs. That way you can tell if the dog is constructed correctly.
WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR IN COMPETITION?
I wear a charcoal coloured suit with different colour of shirts depending what breed I am showing. I sometimes wear a blue jacket with beige trousers, if it is a very dark breed.
WHAT ARE YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS?
I won three time in a row best JH in my age group, Pedigree JH of the Year. Pedigree 2005 JH of the Year Best Overall Handler and represented Germany at Crufts. Also winning my Age group at the World Dogshow in Dortmund 2003 under Mrs L. Cartledge (UK)
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE OCCASION SO FAR?
Being able to walk on the green carpet of Crufts, at the international Junior handling competition.
IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE 'TOP TIP' TO SHARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Be yourself and treat you competitors with respect.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT JUNIOR HANDLING?
To meet so may different handlers from around the world.
WHAT DISAPPOINTS YOU IN THE WORLD OF JUNIOR HANDLING?
Some people can’t lose and are bad sportsmen.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO BRING UP?
Do Junior Handling for yourself and not for anybody else. JH has to be natural you cant force success.
