“We travelled on the 7.04.07 to Italy to spend part of our Easter break there. On the 13th of April was the first day of the show and we borrowed an Afghan from a French Lady. Our judge was Lisbeth Mach form Swisserland. Romey Raemakers from Belgium was first , Sandra Burger from Austria was second and I was placed 3rd. That meant Romey qualified to come back the next day for Monaco's Best Jh 2007.
Then on the 14th I went in with our own dog, an English Springer Spaniel called Molly. There when again JH from all parts of Europe in our age group. Mrs Mach took us through our paces and then pulled out three JH. We had to swap dogs and I had to handle the Husky from the Italian girl. Sandra Burger handled my bitch and the Italian girl had the Tibetan Terrier from Sandra.
We have been asked to do a "T" and present the dog. Then back to our own dogs with a big applause from the audience. I could not believe when she indicated to me that I had won.
After the photos where taken Romey came in , the girl who won the first day ( with a miniature toy poodle). We greeted each other and then set off for a big circle. Then each of us had to do a triangle and an up and down.
Then again swap the dogs. This time we had to do a "T" and the set up our dogs. One more time around the ring and then back to our own dogs. Under a big applause we went around the ring one more last time. Still moving round the ring Mrs Mach held her thumb up in my direction to show me that I was the winner.
After more photos Romey and me where guided to the President of the Kennel Club of Monaco "S.A.S. Princess Antoinette De Monaco" . More photos where taken and the Princess spoke to me and my mum about our dogs and how long I have been handling dogs.
What a day, I am now Junior Handling Champion of Monaco 2007 and will be representing Monaco at Crufts 2008. Because Monaco has only got one show per year the Overall JH winner of that show automatically will go to Crufts. You don't have to be resident of the country or have to have French nationality. JH can enter on the day but the dog have to be showing in a Breed class on that day.”
