Carly Rayner

CARLY RAYNER, 17 YEARS OLD

DISTRICT/COUNTY WHERE YOU LIVE:

Stockport, Cheshire

HOW DID YOU START OFF JUNIOR HANDLING?:

I started off with one of my mum's beagles and took part in Jh classes at companion shows.

DO YOU TAKE PART IN ANY OTHER DOGGY ACTIVITIES (OBEDIENCE, AGILITY, FLYBALL, ETC)?:

No, not really

HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU LIVE WITH, OWN AND/OR SHOW?:

I live with 5 beagles: Kybo Tina With Chaostheory ShCM (Ellie), Kybo Tamara In Chaostheory (Lucy), Chaostheory Fly To The Sky (Dina), Chaostheory Tutti Frutti (Faye) (My mum owns these ones) & Chaostheory Lithium Sunset From Carliku (Roxy) (I part own Roxy with my mum).

WHICH ONES DO YOU USE FOR JUNIOR HANDLING AND WHY?:

When I take part in JH classes, I use Ellie as she has helped me through the years to achieve great results, so she is more experienced than the other beagles.

WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN BEFORE IN COMPETITION?:

I normally show Beagles, but in the past I have shown a Basenji, a Lancashire Heeler, a Miniature Schnauzer & a Rottweiler.

TELL US ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE (SHOWING STYLE) YOUR BREED IN JUNIOR HANDLING CLASSES?:

The Beagle is a stacked breed, this means that the head is held up slightly and the tail is held up high. When moving, they need to move quite quickly, so I do a slow jog. Also, the lead needs to be at the top of the neck, so it reduces the chance of them sniffing the floor!

WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR IN COMPETITION?:

I either wear a grey skirt suit or a lilac skirt suit.

WHAT ARE YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS?:

I got 1st & BJH at Four Counties Beagle Club champ show 06!!!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE OCCASION SO FAR?:

When Ellie won 1st in PGB at Crufts 2006!!

IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE 'TOP TIP' TO SHARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?:

Conquer your nerves. If you feel nervous then nerves go down the lead, so then your dog feels nervous.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT JUNIOR HANDLING?:

Meeting other junior handlers and taking part in the classes because they are fun and very addictive!!

WHAT DISAPPOINTS YOU IN THE WORLD OF JUNIOR HANDLING?:

When some judges in junior handling classes judge the dog, not the handler. I've seen this happen many times, and I've seen the looks on the other handlers faces who have been practising all day, to find out that they have not been placed, all because the judge didn't know how to judge the class properly.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO BRING UP?:

Yes, if anyone would like to visit the website which I have, the address is
