HOW DID YOU START OFF JUNIOR HANDLING?
When I was six years old I went in my first handling class at a companion show, I came 5th but I was glad I got involved, but disapointedly I stopped until I was 13. I then qualified for the richmond semi finals at all the shows I've been to, to this day.
DO YOU TAKE PART IN ANY OTHER DOGGY ACTIVITIES (OBEDIENCE,AGILITY,FLYBALL,ETC)?
No just junior handling
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU LIVE WITH,OWN AND/OR SHOW?
I live with one english springer spaniel named robbie, and at dog training I handle anyone's dog if I am asked.
WHICH ONES DO YOU USE FOR JUNIOR HANDLING AND WHY?
I use robbie because he has brought me luck so far. I also think that i have a good rapport with him.
WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN BEFORE IN COMPETITION?
English springer spaniels, border terriers,norfolk terriers, wirehaired hungarian vizsla's,Shih Tzus, american cocker and a welsh terrier.
TELL US ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE (SHOWING STYLE) YOUR BREED IN JUNIOR HANDLING CLASSES?
English springer spaniels are stacked and are held at the head and the tail and can be ran round on a loose lead or strung up, sometimes springers are free stood.
WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR IN COMPETITION?
I wear a beige jacket because my dog is a dark colour so I do not blend with him and I wear black trousers and black shoes.
WHAT ARE YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS?
After about 5 years going to my first open show and being placed 1st and qualifying for the richmond semi-finals.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE OCCASION SO FAR?
Qualifying for richmond.And experiencing such a great day for the first time at richmond
IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE 'TOP TIP' TO SHARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
If you lose, don't take it to heart. There will always be another time and have fun with your dog because without you dog you would't have such a great experience because it takes a dog and a handler for junior handling.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE THING ABOUT JUNIOR HANDLING?
Spending time with my dog and doing what I love best - junior handling.
WHAT DISAPPOINTS YOU IN THE WORLD OF JUNIOR HANDLING?
Judges who judge the dog and not the handler and people blaming their dog.
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WANT TO BRING UP?
Just have fun and believe in yourself and your dog! Always accept information from judges and people because they are just trying to help because it might help you in the long run.
