HANNAH HADFIELD, 15 YEARS OLD
DISTRICT/COUNTY WHERE YOU LIVE:
Leicestershire, Midlands
HOW DID YOU START OFF JUNIOR HANDLING?
We purchased a Doberman and were asked to show her, therefore mum entered me into a JHA class, I got 3rd and qualified for Richmond, since then i've been competing in junior handling classes.
DO YOU TAKE PART IN ANY OTHER DOGGY ACTIVITIES (OBEDIENCE,AGILITY,FLYBALL,ETC)?
Yes, I do obedience with my 2 dobes.
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU LIVE WITH,OWN AND/OR SHOW?
I currently live with 4 dogs, 2 dobes, 1 welsh springer spaniel and 1 whippet, however we are hoping to keep a dobe out of crystals litter, or to purchase an irish setter!
WHICH ONES DO YOU USE FOR JUNIOR HANDLING AND WHY?
I use 1 of the Dobes as the other only has 3 legs after an road traffic accident, I also use my Whippet and WSS, and I am currently handling many other dogs to get experience of showing dogs I don't know, I also now show Gill Tully's gundogs in handling at champ shows.
WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN BEFORE IN COMPETITION?
I have shown: Shi Tzus, Dobermanns, Whippets, WSS, Irish setters, Irish red and whites, Gordon Setters, Rottweilers, Beagles, Lhasa Apsos, Border Collies, CKCS, Australian Shepherds, Newfoundlands.
TELL US ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE (SHOWING STYLE) YOUR BREED IN JUNIOR HANDLING CLASSES?
A Dobermann is stood square and stacked up, it is stacked for the judge on the floor.
WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR IN COMPETITION?
I Have many different coloured suits, usually a lighter colour if I'm showing the Dobe, and then a darker colour if I'm showing whippet or WSS. My suits always are an opposite colour to the dog so that the dog doesn't blend in with me.
WHAT ARE YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS?
Many Best Junior Handler awards, qualifying for Crufts with two different breeds, 4th placing at JHA Junior Handler of the Year finals held in 2007, First placing at semi finals in 2006.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE OCCASION SO FAR?
My 4th placing at the finals
IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE 'TOP TIP' TO SHARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
