HOW DID YOU START OFF JUNIOR HANDLING?
I started in tiddler handling aged 3.
DO YOU TAKE PART IN ANY OTHER FIELD (I.E. OBEDIENCE, AGILITY, FLYBALL ETC)?
I like to make aglilty courses in the garden and have been taking my new puppy Lola to obedience classes
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU LIVE WITH, OWN AND SHOW?
Nathan lives with 4 dogs, 1 a staffie - Meg at his mums and 3 flatcoats Rafferty, Trigger and Lola at our house. He shows all the flatcoats.
WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU HANDLED IN COMPETITION?
Nathan has shown flatcoats, cocker spaniels, lhasa apso, whippets, tibetian terriers and an Italian spinone.
TELL US ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE (SHOWING STYLE) WHICHEVER BREED YOU USE MOST IN JUNIOR HANDLING CLASSES.
Nathans usual dog is a flatcoat - he free stands the flatcoats encouraging a waggy tail as specified in the breed standard and when moving the dog he runs he always talks to the dog
WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR IN COMPETITION?
Nathan wears a shirt, tie and smart waistcoat and he wears light coloured trousers to make sure the black dogs stand out
TELL US ABOUT SOME OF YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS?
Nathans best achievements are: Mid Herts Gundog 1st JH 6-11 years and best overall handler Oct 2006, May 2007 and Oct 2007. 1st Flatcoat champ show 2007 JH 6-11 years and 6th in the Richmond Semi Finals 2007 JH 6-11 years gundog
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE OCCASION SO FAR?
Richmond semi-finals 2006 Monty the flatcoat who he met 5 mins before going in the ring - Monty slipped his lead pulled Nathan over and was very naughty - but Nathan stayed in there and got shortlisted to last 10.
IF YOU ONLY HAD ONE 'TOP TIP' TO SHARE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Keep going like Nathan and Monty even if it all goes wrong or you make a mistake don't give up
