PORTSMOUTH & SOUTHSEA KA
21ST SEPTEMBER 2008
JUDGE - GEORGINA FERGUSON
6-11 years Junior handling (8,2)
My advice to most of the competitors in this class is to listen to the judge’s instructions and to try not to break the golden rule. Also, all of the handlers got confused by the floor mats and many started their triangles behind me.
1st Jasmine Plunkett, St. Bernard
This handler has great control with such a big dog and showed me the teeth very sympathetically. She was the only handler to present the dog in front of my feet and to do her triangle correctly.
2nd Rosie Beminster, Whippet
Rosie stood the dog very well and didn’t break the golden rule. She encouraged her dog and showed the teeth very neatly.
3rd Jamie Lightfoot, Lhaso Apso
12-16 Junior handling (6,2)
In this class, all of the handlers were puzzled by my request of a ‘reverse straight up and down’ which I explained was simply the same as a normal straight up and down, however in the reverse (right) hand!
1st Helen Long, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
Very good handler with good vocal control of her dog, her pattern work was also very good with straight lines that won her this class. BJH
2nd Shannon Harris, Border Terrier
Excellent handler who was very sympathetic with her 6th month old puppy. She just let herself down on her second straight up and down where she didn’t follow my feet.
3rd Dominic White, Lakeland Terrier
17-39 Adult Handling (13, 4)
This was the strongest class I judged and many of the handlers not shortlisted could have won on a different day.
1st Lauren Vincent, Flatcoat Retriever
Lauren executed excellent pattern work with very straight lines, she was exceptionally calm and showed the teeth very neatly. She stood her dog very quickly which won her the challenge. BAH
2nd Perry Pedrosa, American Cocker
Perry had perfect lines on all of his patterns, he took slightly too long to present his dog, which separated him from 1st.
3rd Gemma Price, Chesapeake Bay retriever
40+ Adult handling (9,5)
1st Pat Grimshaw, English Springer Spaniel
Pat’s lines on her pattern work were excellent today and she was my clear winner in this class. She had excellent vocal control and created a good overall picture with her dog.
2nd Margaret McWillams, Cocker Spaniel
Good table work, however an error on her triangle cost her first place today.
3rd Pat Harris, Irish Setter
