HOW DID YOU START OFF JUNIOR HANDLING?
My mum did dog showing and she said that there was junior handling so I went along to junior handling classes and really enjoyed it.
DO YOU TAKE PART IN ANY OTHER DOGGY ACTIVITIES (OBEDIENCE,AGILITY,FLYBALL,ETC)?
I am going to start agility with one of the beagles soon.
HOW MANY DOGS DO YOU LIVE WITH,OWN AND/OR SHOW?
I live with 2 (naughty!) beagles.
WHICH ONES DO YOU USE FOR JUNIOR HANDLING AND WHY?
I mainly use our beagles, but like to show other breeds when possible so I can gain experience on how to handle different dogs.
WHAT BREEDS HAVE YOU SHOWN BEFORE IN COMPETITION?
Beagle, dachshund, pointer, corgi & irish Setter.
TELL US ABOUT HOW TO HANDLE (SHOWING STYLE) YOUR BREED IN JUNIOR HANDLING CLASSES?
A beagle needs to be stacked squarely with the tail upright. You need to walk fast or jog to get them to move well.
WHAT DO YOU NORMALLY WEAR IN COMPETITION?
Smart trousers, a tie and a blazer.
WHAT ARE YOUR BEST ACHIEVEMENTS?
Kennel Club of Jersey Championship Show March 2006 – Best Junior Handler in Show, Welsh Kennel Club Championship Show – 3rd and winning the YKC Members Stakes at East of England (Crufts qualification).
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR MOST MEMORABLE OCCASION SO FAR?
Winning YKC Members Stakes at East of England.
