SCWT OF GB OPEN SHOW

Judge  - Ken Francis

I was very pleased to be asked to judge the Junior Handling classes having spent time ringside supporting my daughter when she competed. I think it is extremely important to encourage younger members of our breed and I was truly impressed with the standard on display, their sportsmanship was a credit to them. When declaring BJH it was a case of “splitting hairs”, the class winners were evenly matched and placings may alter in the future.

6-11years

1. Gabriella Oxlade. (11). A smartly dressed, confident handler who maintained a good rapport with her dog. Performed tight patterns at the correct pace. Well schooled in handling and knew the finer points, including the origins of the breed. Smooth and effortless, she and the dog complemented each other in the ring. Certain of a bright future.

2. Holly Wildman. (9). Her first time handling in the ring, she was polite and keen to learn. She worked hard keeping her dog’s attention and control while moving. More practice and advice will improve her skills. Look forward to seeing her in the ring in the future.

12-16 years

1. Hannah Escott. (16). Another handler who did not disappoint, her experience shone through; she has obviously been perfecting her skills. Aware of the dogs needs and showed it to its full potential. Quiet and confident in her movements, she knew her dog’s finer points and breed history. Fluid turns, straight movement and gentle encouragement caught my eye. A handler who complemented her dog. Best Junior Handler- well done.

2. Katie Thompson. (14). Handled her dog well and kept its attention. Neat mover but needs to be aware of the judge. Smartly turned out, handled her dog sympathetically.
