Junior Handling
This was a Scottish Junior handler of the year qualifier. Although it was not a high entry the quality of the winners in both classes were high. The main problem I found was that after finishing the pattern work people were standing to close for me to look at the dog properly. Also a few people broke the golden rule by coming between the dog and the judge. When showing the teeth try not to put your head in the way and put any treats away in your pocket and also remember to move back to your place even if you think the judge isn’t looking.
6-11 Years (6, 3a)
1. Charley Donaldson; A calm and sympathetic handler. Stood her dog very well and was very observant. Pattern work was good with straight lines and sharp corners. When moving the dog round with the whole class she made sure to give herself plenty of room. Although you should make sure not to come between the dog and the judge, when moving in front of the judge to begin the pattern.
2. Stuart Gilles; tried very hard and listened to all my instructions and talked to the dog to calm him down. Knew what he was doing but struggled with a dog, which was too strong for him talked to his dog to get him to behave.
3. Jessica Ross
12-16 years (10, 5a)
1. Nicola Sturrock; From the beginning of the class she stood out. Presented the dog very well. Had very good lines and corners. Held the lead neatly when on the move. Never came between the dog and judge and gave the dog room when moving around the dog. Just had the extra touches that made her stand out today. Remembered to move her dog back to her place at the end of her pattern
2. Stacy Mason; Also a very good handler. Stood her dog well. Pattern work was neat but not as smooth as 1. Also remembered to move back to her place.
3. Allison Donaldson
