Welcome!
This site is dedicated to one man, this man being little known nowadays, but an important researcher and Antiquarian in his day.
I will attempt to show you as much as possible about his life, works and his possible genealogy with the information I have to hand. Even now, little is known about this indefatigable man, but I still hope to show you as much as possible about him. I hope you enjoy this site and maybe able to assist me in the future about finding out more, particularly in regards to his unknown family.
This man is of course, James Yeowell, Antiquarian and writer and sub-editor of several works. Having lived from about 1803 to 1875, he had a long life. A lot of it through the industrial revolution and the start of the Railways and the heyday of the Canal in England. He seems to have had a vast array of knowledge on many subjects, I hope to show these here, within this site. He was also friends with Richard Neville, Lord Braybrooke and worked with him on Samuel Pepys Diaries, but more about this later. I shall now go into James Yeowell's life and history in the next section.
If you have any queries, just e-mail me James R. Yeowell at yeowellgenealogy@googlemail.com
Note:
This website is still under a lot of construction as new material is found; if any errors are found, let me know. This site will eventually be a companion to my main Yeowell genealogy site, currently under construction. You can refer to my 2nd cousin Geoff Yeowell's website at http://yeowell.homestead.com for further information on the Yeowell name, genealogical information and our migration from place to place.
