Ascension Children’s Club

Welcome to the Ascension
Children’s Club
Our Club Leaders
The Children’s Club is run during every Sunday service except for the All Age services
on the first Sunday of each month.
We aim to teach the children stories from the Bible by giving them fun, informative and interactive sessions within a safe, secure environment.
The club has three groups to cater for the various age ranges of the children.
We aim to have all three groups available at all services (excluding All Age Service).
Working in smaller groups ensures that the activities we give the children are pitched at a level they can understand and benefit most from.

Currently we have five Children's Club Leaders running these invaluable sessions:

The Boulders Roll In!
We are delighted that the Boulders Group has been established to cater for our 11-
The older children have appreciated the small group discussions which are much more sophisticated allowing the children to ask many questions and find the answers they may be looking for.
There are currently nine children on the Boulders register.
However, currently we are seeking some new Children’s Club Leaders to lead this important group of older children. If you think you might be able to help please get in touch.

Other Activities
Calling all 11 to 14 year olds...
You are invited to join the YC Unit on Sunday evenings between 6.30 and 8pm for a
mix of activities, days out, fun, tuck shop, friends old and new and an opportunity
to learn about Christian faith and lifestyle today.
For more information Contact Colin McKenzie (020 8838 4531). Any Volunteers to help run the YC unit would be a great help.
Can You
Help?
As the number of children attending the club is increasing it is becoming a challenge to maintain these weekly sessions with so few leaders.
We are looking for more volunteers to become Children’s Club Leaders. We would ideally like three leaders for each of our three groups.
We are currently looking to recruit leaders for our 11-
Anyone who thinks they might be interested in volunteering as a Children’s Club Leader is encouraged to observe a session.
For any information please contact Amanda Butcher via email at amandabutcher@churchoftheas cension.org.uk or by telephone on 020 8992 4790.
Alternatively have a chat with any of the current Children’s Club Leaders.
We look forward to hearing from you……
Children’s Club Leaders are volunteers who are on a Rota to lead a group ideally once a month.
A two month Rota is provided a month in advance and any dates that are not convenient for you may be swapped with other leaders.
Along with each new Rota, instructions and worksheets are

provided, so that you know in advance the theme and aims of each session that you are scheduled to run. This allows time for preparation and also to collect any artifacts and information you may need.
Most sessions require just pens, pencils, glue and scissors which are stored in the Crèche along with children’s bibles and audio cassettes.
On the day of your session we suggest you arrive ten minutes before church begins to set up your table and chairs and collect your materials from the Crèche.
After your session we ask that the materials used and tables and chairs are returned to their storage area.
Being a children’s club leader is both rewarding and enjoyable .
