At A Competition
Arrival and warm-up.
On arrival at the sports centre, the coach responsible for the performers must sign the club in and will then receive warm up cards and a programme. The coach will give you your warm-up card when you arrive. Look at the programme or the signs on the ends of the trampolines for your group. Take the warm-up card to the person holding a pile of warm-up cards at one of the trampolines on that panel (warm-up marshal). The warm-up marshal will tell you when it is your turn to warm up. Each person has a maximum of 30 seconds per warm up during which most people do a set or voluntary routine There is a choice of two trampolines per panel. If you don’t like the first one then retrieve your warm-up card and take it to the other trampoline. There are generally separate warm-ups for the set and voluntary routines but check the timetable for this. Everyone is guaranteed two warm-ups for the set and two for the voluntary. Those making the final (top 8), will get one further warm-up. There are no finals for Novices.
Competing.
At the end of the warm-up period the beds will be cleared and you will be shown where to sit to await your turn to compete. You should stay there all the time, but if you need to go to the toilet or for a drink etc. you may do so, but check with the marshal that you have time. If you wander away without telling the marshal, you may miss your turn. The marshal will tell you when it is your turn. Try to find spotters to take with you or ask for some help with this. The first time you are called by the marshal will be for a controlled warm-up - do a routine once, and get off. The next turn will be the real thing. You should get on the trampoline and wait until the Chair of the Judges’ Panel tells you to begin. It impresses the judges if you then turn to the panel and present, although this is not strictly necessary (it does not earn any extra marks!). You may bounce for as long as you need before you start your routine (within reason - you have 1 minute before incurring penalties but this is an awfully long time), but once you have started the routine you must carry on - no second attempts are allowed except in specific circumstances (e.g. a spring breaking). At the end of the routine you must stand still for 3 seconds before moving or you will have marks deducted for instability. You then gets off the trampoline and return to the marshalling area (and check your marks!). The process will be repeated for the voluntary routines, and also for the final if there is one. In most competitions the voluntaries are done in reverse order of the set scores, and always in the final, so you may not necessarily bounce in the same order as before.
Presentations.
Usually there will be presentations of trophies at the end of the morning session and again at the end of the afternoon. We expect people to wait to collect their awards and to be in club kit.
