| Having pitched
the new tent (more room to sit in and stay dry as it rains), we decided to
spend the following day climbing the second highest mountain - Helvellyn -
the lower slopes of which can be seen on the right. |
| Firstly the
view from around half way up, looking towards Thirlmere. Then a picture of
us next to the triangulation point, taken by a nice couple that we met on
the top. Lastly, the view from the top, looking towards Penrith. |

| This was the
first few days of September and maybe the pilot seen training over
Thirlmere would be off to a foreign land within a couple of weeks.
We spent a rainy day beside Lake Windermere, where the middle picture of
Ambleside was taken. The final picture shows Derwent Water, as seen from
the south west. |
| Firstly a
picture of Mike, with his friend "Mr Stick", looking out across
Derwent Water, this time from the south east. Next he can be seen
indicating the severity of the road across Hardknott Pass. Finally, Kate
finding something to smile about as she stands in the rain, amongst the
remains of the Roman hill fort at the top. |
| Finally, for
the Lakes, three pictures taken as we walked along the River Esk. There
seemed to be waterfalls and rock pools every few hundred yards. |
