Tonbridge Radio Flyers was formed by a group of aeromodellers in the Tonbridge area. Since then the membership has expanded to cover a larger area including Tonbridge, Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells, Bromley and Sevenoaks. Tonbridge Radio Flyers has the use of two flying sites. The first is at Tonbridge and we commence flying there in early 2004. We are able to fly power models at this site from 10am until 2pm on Wednesdays and Sundays throughout the year. Our second site is at Leigh Park Farm, situated to the North West of Leigh village. We treat this field as a silent flight site - Gliders and Electric powered models. Our use of this site extends throughout the year on Wednesday mornings from 10am until 2pm, Saturday afternoons from 1pm until 6pm (from 12 noon in Winter months and Sundays from 10am until 2pm. We are also able to fly on Thursday evenings from 5pm until dusk and on Bank Holidays from 10am until 2pm. As our title indicates, we do not normally embrace free flight modelling, but we have a few members who participate in this branch of the sport at BMFA area events held on the Ashdown Forest. Also, there is a growing interest in indoor model flying, both free flight and R/c and support is given to the regular Saturday evening meetings at the Strood Sports Centre. We encourage youngsters to enter the sport of aeromodelling and have special Junior subscription rates up to the age of 18 years. We are able to offer instruction both in building the models and learning to fly them. To find out more contact us by post.email or 'phone; alternatively just turn up at the field on at one of the designated times (weather permitting).
