Hi All
First I'd like to welcome new full members Alan Parker, Ben
Nicoll and Paul Warren to the Club who have all joined since the last
newsletter.
In the last newsletter I mentioned that the weather had turned bad and
hoped it would not last. Well the weather is more like March than July with high
winds and heavy rain showers, as I write this newsletter, with no sign of an
improvement. This seems to have been the case since the last newsletter, but
still flying has continued between the gaps in the bad weather.
Personally I have been able to fly my ¼ scale model of F G Miles
M.1 Satyr and a 1/6 scale Sopwith Camel which have not seen air under their
wheels for some time.
Also Peter Hunn has been flying his ¼ scale Tiger Moth. When not flying I
have been looking over my planes for any repairs or maintenance that needs doing
so that when the rain and wind stop I will be ready to make the most of
it.
Flying instruction of members continues but with large gaps between
good flying weather progress is slow. If you would like to help out with
teaching members to fly, the more instructors we have the less time new flyers
have to wait for an instructor to be free, please talk with me on Wednesdays or
Saturdays alternately with Bill or Derrick on Sunday.
The one thing this
weather is good for is the runway with regular cutting and plenty of rain it is
beginning to look like a bowling green. Thanks to Gordon.
How many of you noticed my mistake in the last newsletter. I missed out two
dates for the Gun Club they are:
AUGUST 26TH
SEPTEMBER 16TH
Because of the high winds and the possibility of rain I did not go to Wings
and Wheels but members who did go tell me that it was still a good show with
plenty of flying and bargains to be had.
The next show for the south
east is at Hastings on 28th/29th July. Probably the cheapest big show at £6
adults and £4 for OAP’s. Most of the major retailers attend so you can stock up
on supplies ready for your next project.
Next newsletter will be September
Regards Steve
