Hello fellow flyers,
I always seem to be bleating about the weather in these emails but
February certainly seemed to merit a good moan with plenty of high winds, snow
and lots of rain. Last weekend
someone commented to me that the flying field looked more like a paddy field
than a pasture. Miraculously
however, we managed to fly all three of our scheduled winter league competitions
during February.
Round 2 of the Thermal winter league, which took place on 11th
Feb, was won by Keith Fisher from Alan Twine in second
place.
Round 3 of the Thermal league, on 18th Feb, also saw Keith
Fisher triumphant. Simon Smith came
into 2nd place on that occasion.
Round 4 of the Electric winter league took place on 25th
Feb. The Brushed motor class was
won by Ken Dean with Alan Goddard in 2nd place. The Open class competition was won by
Keith Fisher with Alan Twine in 2nd
place.
Congratulations to all of the above flyers. The full results and updated league
tables have been posted onto the club website.
The poor winter weather has prevented many attempts at recording times
for the Winter High Time records.
Finally some times were posted in late January and February. The winter high time for electric
gliders has been nudged up by myself a couple of times and currently stands at
22minutes 14 seconds. There has
only been one claim so far for the thermal high time but that stands to Bob Hope
at a whopping 77 minutes 17 secs.
Well done Bob! That will
take some beating BUT, stranger things have happened and there are still 3 weeks
for further attempts to be made.
I have received notification from Keith Miller that a local camcorder
club is planning to make a video of our activities between 11th and
18th April this year so if you want to be recorded for posterity
please; a) come and be filmed and b) clean the mud off your model
beforehand.
Unfortunately there are still a small number of members who have not yet
paid their subscriptions for the current year. If you are one of those, Steve Fysh
would very much like to hear from you.
He would like it even more if he received your money.
DIARY REMINDERS!
Dates for you to remember over the coming month are as
follows:
Best wishes,
