Hello fellow flyers,

 

Thankfully the membership renewal process for 2008 is now complete and all of you should have received your new membership cards and insurance documents.  A handful of new members have joined since the turn of the year.  Please look out for them at our flying sites and make them welcome.   Inevitably there have been a few who have not rejoined but losses and gains have more or less balanced out to leave us with a total membership of 74.

 

Since I last wrote to you the weather has been quite mixed with some bright frosty days and some wet and windy.  Several rounds of our winter thermal and Electric leagues have found good enough weather to fly during January and February.  The detailed results and league tables have all been added to the competitions section of the club website but a summary is as follows:

 

• 20^th Jan – Thermal Round 3- 1^st Keith Fisher, 2^nd Phil Ramsey, 3^rd Andy Thompson
• 10^th Feb – Electric R 3 Brushed Class – 1^st Simon Smith, 2^nd David Taylor, 3^rd Alastair Ramsay
• 10^th Feb – Electric R 3 Open Class – 1^st Simon Smith, 2^nd Alastair Ramsay, 3^rd David Taylor
• 17^th Feb – Thermal Round 4 – 1^st Keith Fisher, 2^nd Alan Twine, 3^rd Simon Smith

 

Congratulations to each of these competitors.   A happy footnote to these results is that Ken Dean’s model which flew out of sight during competition and was apparently lost, has been found by a farmer near Charcott and reunited with its owner. This underlines the benefit of always attaching your contact details to each model.

 

For all those interested, the schedule of interclub and Open competitions for the coming summer season have been added to the Calendar section of the website.
