Hello fellow flyers,
March has been a very frustrating month with very few opportunities to
fly and frequent cancellations to our schedule of winter league
competitions. I have now re-jigged
the schedule for the outstanding league fixtures to make use of all dates that
had been earmarked as ‘Reserve Dates’. There will be no further
re-scheduling so let us hope that the weather is kinder to us in April than it
has been in March. The remaining
rounds for winter league competitions are as follows. Please adjust your diaries
accordingly:
This is the last week for any further attempts at the winter high time
records. It looks as though the
weather may protect the current times which are held by Peter Sainsbury
(Thermal) and Alan Goddard (Electric).
If the wind dies down on Wednesday or Saturday that will present your
last opportunity to beat the current times which stand at 27 min 27 secs for the thermal event and
18 min 20 secs for the Electric one.
Further to the problems, identified in my last newsletter, with Futaba
2.4GHz radio equipment, I have been informed that the relevant transmitters can
be checked out at local model shops.
EM Models of Camden Road Tunbridge Wells can perform this check for you
while you wait. It is a free
service but I doubt whether they would object if you bought something while you
are there. Whilst on this subject please also see the link that has been
provided on the club website (home page) to a potential problem with the
Spektrum 2.4GHz
equipment.
Finally, those of you who are long–term Silent Flight members will
remember David Hunt who flew at Leigh Park Farm until a few years ago. I have good cause to be grateful to him
for not only introducing me to the club but also for providing helpful advice
during the building of my first model.
I regret to report that David passed away earlier this month after a long
illness bravely borne. I have expressed condolences to his wife Anne and will
attend his funeral later this week.
On a brighter note! Please
remember that Thursday evening flying from 5pm until dusk will be possible at
Leigh Park farm from next week.
Best wishes,
