Hello fellow flyers,

The winter season’s competitions are now completed, the weather has warmed up a little and the mud and puddles at the farm have disappeared.  In my last Newsletter I sought interest in running a further Summer Electric league on alternate Thursday evenings.  This drew insufficient response for the competition to be viable.  I had affirmative responses from Simon Smith, Ken Dean, Keith Fisher and Alan Twine.  In order to run the competition we need at least two more so if you have re-considered your position and wish to enter please let me know a.s.a.p.  There was an even smaller response to the suggestion for a one-off Thermal RES competition so, once again, unless more members show an interest the competition cannot be run.

The final outcome of our Winter Leagues is as follows:

1.    Thermal League           1st Keith Fisher, 2nd Alan Twine, 3rd Simon Smith.

2.    Electric League (Brushed motors) 1st Ken Dean, 2nd Keith Fisher, 3rd Simon Smith

3.    Electric League (Open Class)           1st Ken Dean, 2nd Alan Twine, 3rd Keith Fisher

The full results tables have all been posted on the club website for those interested in the fine detail.

Whilst on the subject of results, I am pleased to report that TRF managed to retain the Ron Finniss Memorial Team Trophy at Sutton Valence yesterday.  We fielded two teams of four flyers and were placed 1st and 3rd in the competition.  Well done to all those who flew as TRF representatives.  When the full results have been received I will ask Ken Dean to add them to the club website.

Next Sunday (13th May) is the 1st round of the BARCS sponsored F3J Thermal League.  This, as previously notified, will be held at Leigh Park Farm.  NO CLUB FLYING WILL BE POSSIBLE ON THAT DAY!

Unfortunately, during the following weekend of 19th-21st May, The village of Leigh will be hosting a major Scouting Jamboree.  This will impact TRF because Leigh Park Farm is to be used by the Scouts for Microlite flying and Parascending activities.  Keith Miller is trying to negotiate with the scouts for a timetable that could provide alternating activity between their flying and ours.  If Keith manages to secure such an agreement I will notify you again before the weekend of 19th-21st May.  In the meantime we must assume that it will be impractical, on safety grounds, for TRF club flying during that weekend.

There have been several early claims for the Summer High Time competitions.  Currently the Thermal time stands to Alan Twine at just over 26 minutes.  The Electric time stands to me at just over 22 minutes.  If you wish to have a go at these competitions, the rules are on the website and all you need is another member to witness your achievement.

Finally, we have been offered several bundles of old modelling mags, some containing plans, by a lady who contacted the webmaster.  If anyone is interested in this free offer please let me know and I will put you in touch with the donor (who lives in Hadlow).

DIARY REMINDERS!

Best wishes,
