Hello fellow flyers,

Since I last wrote to you on 18th May the weather has greatly improved to allow more good flying days.  This  came too late to avoid the cancellation of two of our scheduled competitions, the 6th round of the Winter Electric League on 21st May and the Summer Electric League on 18th May.

We have however run a second round of the Electric Summer League on 1st June.  This was won by David Taylor with myself in second place.  The result sheet and league Table updates appear as usual on the website under ‘Competitions’.

There have been numerous recent sightings of new Pike Superior gliders over Leigh Park Farm.  I suspect there must be a local breeding colony.  One of these Pikes, flown by Keith Fisher, has set the new ‘Time to Beat’ for our summer gliding High Time competition.  The record now stands at 42 min 34 secs (see the website competition section for details). Well done Keith!

Despite the improved weather reminding us that summer has arrived, there are still a number of members who appear not to have come out of hibernation.  If that applies to you, why not charge your batteries and come to a club flying day?

Diary Reminders!

  1. Electric Summer League – Thursday 15th June and Thursday 29th June ready for a 6-15 start.  If you haven’t entered yet it’s not too late to start.  Rules are on the website.
  2. Final round of Winter Electric League.  THIS HAS NOW BEEN RE-SCHEDULED FOR THURSDAY EVENING 22ND JUNE – 6-15PM. This round has been carried over into summer because there are still 3 possible winners of the Open Class event.
  3. Sunday July 2nd. BARCS Open event at Cliffe.

Best wishes!  >>>>>>>>> Alastair
