Hello fellow flyers,

Important Notice!

Would you please accept this Newsletter as giving formal notice of the Club AGM which is to be held on Monday 1st December 2008 at the Angel Centre, Tonbridge, starting at 8pm.

The AGM Agenda is as follows:

  1. Apologies for absence
  2. Minutes of 2007 AGM
  3. Matters arising from item 2
  4. Officers Reports
  5. Election of Officers for 2009
  6. Membership – Categories, waiting list, Subs for 2009
  7. Kent Interclub – Membership and TRF Representation
  8. Proposed number and timing of Kent Interclub/ Open Competitions for 2009
  9. TRF website
  10. 2008 Competition Results/ trophies
  11. Proposal for ‘Fun Fly Day’ at Leigh – summer 2009

May I remind you that the officers of the club serve for 1 year.  I have had notice that the Chairman, Secretary and Safety Officer are prepared to stand for re-election.  I have received the nomination of Adrian Smith to stand as Treasurer in place of Steve Fysh who wishes to stand down.  I have also received the nomination of Alan Goddard to stand for the vacant post of ‘Silent Flight Secretary.’

Keith Miller wishes to stand down as our representative on the Kent Interclub Committee.  The nomination of Keith Fisher has been received to replace him in that role.

May I encourage as many of you as possible to attend the AGM or present your apologies if you are unable to do so.  It would also be very helpful to the Secretary and Treasurer if you could bring your cheque book and pay the 2009 subs at the end of the meeting, once the fees have been confirmed.  This early payment not only helps our administration but ensures we have funds to pay the field rental fees due on 1st January.

Since my last Newsletter the weather has continued to prevent much flying.  The first Thermal winter league round was a victim of the weather and will now be re-scheduled for 23rd November.  There was however a small window of opportunity which allowed us to run the 1st round of the Electric winter league in sunny conditions on 2nd November.  There were 3 classes run in this competition:

  1. Brushed Motor Class -      Won by Alastair Ramsay  with Peter Sainsbury in 2nd place
  2. Open Class -                        Won by Alastair Ramsay with Peter Sainsbury in 2nd place
  3. 200W/Kg Class -                 Won by Peter Sainsbury with Bob Hope in 2nd place.

Detailed results have been passed to Ken Dean for inclusion on the club website.

The heavy rain has ensured that the Leigh Park Farm flying site is well and truly into winter mode.  I am told that the cows will now be in barns for the winter and that we can return to using the top field next to the oast house.  The farmer has asked if we will try to park on the hard standing inside the gate to this field and avoid parking outside the farmhouse.  Those of us who turned out on Wednesday of this week found that it is now impossible to park on the grass anywhere in the fields.  We also found quite a bit of surface flooding so beware of submerging your model when landing.
