Hello fellow flyers,

 

I regret to have to start this email on a sad note.  Allan Young, our friend and long term member of TRF, passed away a few days ago after a lengthy illness.  We had seen him recently at Leigh Park Farm and hoped that the worst days were over for him.  Regrettably this proved a false hope.  Our thoughts are with his wife Ann and their family at this difficult time.

 

Keith Miller will represent us at the funeral but for any of you able to attend, it will be at the Tunbridge Wells Crematorium at 11 am on Tuesday 22^nd August.

 

Turning to flying matters, I need to draw your attention to the fact that there are three Sundays in September when there will be no Club flying because Leigh Park Farm will be used for interclub thermal competitions.  The dates are: - 3^rd Sept (Bromley Open), 17^th Sept (KIC Kent Cup), and 24^th Sept (SE area BMFA Towner Trophy).

Since I last wrote there have been a few competition results to report.

 

Firstly, the Tonbridge Open at Leigh Park Farm on 30^th July drew a good entry from several clubs.  The weather was good, if a bit breezy.  The full results and report from Keith Miller have been posted on the club website but in summary, the overall winner, after a fly-off, was Andy Cox.  Colin Boorman came second and our own Simon Smith was 3^rd.  Bob Hope was best of the non-moulded models.

 

We have also completed two more rounds of the Summer Electric league.  Once again the results and tables have been posted on the website.  The round held on 27^th July was won by myself with Keith Fisher in second place.  The 10^th August round was won by David Taylor with Keith Fisher again in second place.

Thursday 24^th August – 6-15pm – Summer Electric League at LPF

Sunday 3^rd Sept – Bromley Open at LPF (no club flying)

Thursday 7^th Sept – Final round (daylight permitting) Summer Electric

Sunday 17^th Sept – KIC Kent Cup at LPF

Sunday 24^th Sept – SE Area BMFA Towner Trophy Barcs Open at LPF.
