Hello fellow flyers,

The winter season is finally upon us with no more Thursday evening sessions and the extra layers of clothing coming out of the wardrobe. Our first Club competition of the winter drew a record turnout for Round 1 of the Thermal winter league on 29th October.  This was won by Keith Fisher with Alan Twine in second place and Keith Miller in third.  Well done to them!

The Summer High Time competitions are now closed and I can report that our worthy winners were:  Matt Brooks with a Thermal class flight of 46 min. 20 sec.  and David Taylor who recorded 29 min. 26 sec. for the Electric High Time.

The Winter High Time competition is now underway for both Thermal and Electric classes and any record claims, supported by a TRF witness, should be forwarded to me for registration on the website.  The rules for these competitions can be found on the website.

May I remind you to mark your diaries with the date for the TRF annual general meeting which takes place at the Angel Centre, Tonbridge on 4th December at 8pm.  Keith Miller will be circulating the details shortly.

The increase in membership of the Gliding Section this year has put some strain on the transmitter channel allocations.  We have been attempting to make full use of all the even channels between 56 and 90 in order to avoid clashes on club flying days.  Now that there are many more members than channels, we have to duplicate. We have still tried to avoid clashes by putting members who are infrequent attendees (or fly on different days) on the same channels.  It would be helpful if you would check your entry on the website and let me know if it remains appropriate or needs to change.  If you could also register one or more, second choice channels these can be added to the ‘Reserve’ list.  You will appreciate that there is not a lot of room for manoeuvre any more but there are still a few channels that are seldom used on club days and are candidates for duplicate entries. These are: - Channels 60, 64 and 80.

The first round of the Electric Winter League is scheduled for this Sunday, 12th November starting at 10 am.  There are two classes of competition, one for brushed motors and another for unrestricted motor type.  Please note that new rules for these competitions have been posted on the website.  They are designed to encourage entries from a wider range of models and allow larger, heavier models to be accommodated by allowing a higher capacity battery to be used.  If you are interested in entering but are unsure if your model/motor/battery combination complies with the rules, please call me on 01892 534532 for clarification.

Thanks to those who advertised some of their models and equipment for sale on the website.  This was moderately successful, with several sales having taken place over the last month or so.

And finally!
