Tonbridge Radio Flyers
Update/Reminder email from Alastair Ramsay
No: 14/06 – 23rd December 2006
Club Website: - Tonbridge-flyers.co.uk
Hello fellow
flyers,
Since I last wrote
to you in early November, I have been away on holiday. It seems I chose a good time to be in
foreign climes because the weather at home has not been too good for
flying. We did manage to complete the
first two rounds of the Winter Electric League on November 12th and
December 17th but, the 2nd round of the Thermal league
could not be run on 3rd December due to bad weather. This round will
be rescheduled for the reserve date listed on 18th February 2007.
The results of the
Electric Leagues Round 1 and 2 have been posted on the Club website but in
summary are as follows:
Round 1 – Brushed
motor Class: 1st Ken Dean, 2nd David Taylor
Round 1 – Open
Class: 1st Ken Dean, 2nd Keith Fisher
Round 2 – Brushed
Class: 1st Ken Dean, 2nd
Keith Fisher
Round 2 – Open
Class: 1st Alan Twine, 2nd Ken Dean.
Well done to each
of the above who have made it difficult for the rest of us to rise to the
challenge.
The Club AGM was
held on December 11th at the Angel Centre but was rather sparsely
attended. Keith Miller was there as
usual and presented his own Secretary’s report as well as my report for the
Gliding Section. Keith provided the
following summary of the meeting for me to include in this Newsletter:
"There was a disappointingly low turnout
for the AGM on December 11th, only 20 members out of a membership of 86!
Needless to say, no one was willing to take over as club secretary, so Keith
Miller is still there together with the other existing committee members for
another year
.
Of particular
interest to silent flight members was the discussion on the use of LPF for
competitions run by other organisations.
We already run our own Open Thermal event there in July as well as one
Kent Interclub event sometime during the year. In recent years these have been
added to by the BMFA Towner Trophy and the Bromley Open. We were recently
approached by BARCS to see if the first round of their F3J League could be held
at the farm in May 2007. The whole situation raised some lively discussion and
I was quite surprised when a vote signified approval for the five events to be
run in 2007. The KIC date will not be set until their AGM in January but the
other dates will be as follows:-
F3J League Round 1 May 13th
TRF Open Thermal July 29th
Bromley Open Thermal September 9th
Towner
Trophy
September 30th
The donations to
the club by these organisations in recompense for our loss of club flying time
(apart from the KIC event which is part of our rental arrangement with the
farm) are being reviewed.
Finally, on the
money side, Steve Fysh reported that we have no need to increase subs again but
BMFA dues have gone up by £1 for seniors. The new figures are as follows:-

This is the 14th and final
