1. DIVISIONS There are currently three divisions in the junior section:- Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16. These divisions may be changed as necessary at the discretion of the Junior League Secretary. Children at primary school or in year 7 are eligible to play in the U12 division. Children in years 8 & 9 are eligible to play in the U14 division. Children in years 10 & 11 are eligible to play in the U16 division. 2. RULES OF PLAY This section of the league is mixed - teams can be made up of any combination of boys or girls. Teams of all boys or all girls are acceptable. A match consists of 6 rubbers - 4 singles and 2 doubles. One point is awarded for each rubber won. At the end of the season the winner of the league is the team with most points. In the event of a tie, the team with the best of games won/games lost shall be the winner. If time permits a rubber shall consist of one set with a tie-break at 6-6. If the number of courts available and/or court time is restricted, team captains may agree to restrict the length of each set to a fixed time depending on the amount of court time available. This must be agreed at the outset and a timekeeper appointed (if 2 courts are available for 2 hours then 30 minute sets would be appropriate to allow time for knock-ups,tie breaks and changeovers.) At the end of the agreed the rally in progress shall be terminated and the score shall revert to the end of the previous game. If the match was tied at that point then a tie-break shall be played. 3.ELIGIBILITY OF PLAYERS Any player participating in any match must be a bone-fide member of the club or pupil of the school for which he/she plays and may not play league tennis for any team in the junior section of the league (but may play for another club in senior sections of the league). 4. STARRED PLAYERS In the event of any club having more than one team in any division, all players in the first team shall be 'starred' and ineligible to play for a lower team. The members of the lower team may not play for the higher team. 5. BALLS The home team shall provide tennis balls which need not be new but both Captains must approve their condition. 6. STARTING TIMES Matches are usually played after school but can be arranged at any other time at the convenience of both clubs. 7. REARRANGED AND POSTPONED MATCHES Fixturez can berearranged for reasons other than the weather at the convenience of the clubs involved (for example, players required for school activities) BUT if a fixture is rearranged three times and is still not played then the result shall be regarded as a draw and three points awarded to each side. If a match has started but has to be abandonned for any reason then the result shall stand if three rubbers or more have been completed, incomplete sets shall be counted as having finished and the points for any rubbers not started shall be divided equally. If a match has to be replayed then it shall be replayed in its entirity. 8. ARRANGING DATES AND NOTIFICATION OF RESULTS It shall be the the responsibility of the home team to make contact with the away team to arrange the fixture and to return the result to the Junior League Secretary as soon as possible. 9. DISPUTES In the event of a dispute or disagreement the Junior League Secretary shallbe informed and his/her decision shall be final. 10. COMPLETION OF FIXTURES All fixtures shall be completed by the end of July. ASny teamswith outstandingfixtures will be given a void result (ie no points). Walkover results will be accepted if agreed by both clubs. If a team withdraws from the league during the season then all results involving that team shall benull and void. 11 TROPHIES Trophies will be presented to the winning clubs at the end of the season. It shall be the responsibility oftheholders to arrange for the trophies to be engraved and to be returned in good order when requested. 12. 'SPIRIT OF TENNIS' These rules are written with the 'spirit' of tennis in mind and that the league is set up for competition but above all for 'FUN'.
