Finale FINALE Finale

The Duet The second day of poor Tony's captivity began much as the first, especially because he could remember nothing of his first day except its beginning. Magic was afoot you see dear reader, magic to bring about the Giant's plan. But maybe some other magic was also at work (following the events of yesterday) because,  not only was Candora singing as she had the day before, but Donald was up and dressed and joining in on a strange musical instrument. He blew into it but it also had a keyboard. And not just joining in the chorus but couterpointing a rather attractive descant. Perhaps the author of these stories should accept a challenge to bring it to you in all its audio glory!! As the melodious duet drew to its close, the giant arrived, not table thumping as yesterday, but with an amiable smile. He poked his fat finger into Tony's jar and gently pulled him out and sat him on the table.

Dance for MeDance for me said the Giant. The music began again and Tony who could hop and flip, but had never danced before, found himself doing what amounted to a lively jig with the beat governed by the tap (to Tony a mighty thump) of the giant's foot. The giant couldn't sing and, happily did not try, but he felt included because not only did he tap his foot but he counted ONE, two, THREE, four. This went on for some time until the dancer, the singer and the melodeon player all collapsed into a laughing heap.

Donald was the first to sit up and speak, well announce really:

THE TRUTH HAS SET ME FREE!

Helmet of Salvation The giant said Stand UP! but he looked at Candora and then said to her Is it? Candora had a good look and White as snow,  she replied. Well then, said the Giant, you had better have this! and he reached into a cupboard and produced a helmet which he placed on Donald's head instead of his headband. Tony and Candora broke into applause and Donald grinned.

Candy Water Sprite So by way of explanation dear reader: The giant's plan had been to replace his difficult squire with our Tony, but instead some old fashioned magic saved Donald from himself. To cut a long story short they all went back to earth, where the Wizard (who could now use his ring to work spells) turned Candora back into a Water-Sprite, much to the delight of Tony and his friends. The Tree Sprites and the Wizard came to live near the river bank and the Giant became great friends with the Dragon and invited it to his castle for tea. And of Course:

They all lived Happily Ever After.
(Even Gallina who had come to appreciate Bobby)

But what of the Wicked Witch you are asking, didn't she spoil things? Well no, you see, no-one is ever totally worthless and with the help of the fairies (reluctantly it is true) she came around too and happily gave all the sprites a ride on her Broomstick. (They did squabble a bit about that of course, but Gallina sorted them out)

fairies Noone is worthlessRex

Donald the Squire travelled far away to become an Altar Boy in a great Cathedral and later its Bishop.
And Rex, what about him? I'm afraid he stayed aloof, I think he rather doubted the Witch's change of heart.
