Wilsden A 18 v 0 Keighley Shamrocks 26th October 2003
  Fundraising Committee
On a somewhat frost hardened pitch Wilsden took charge right from the first whistle. Excellent inter-play from Matthew Blackhall and George Bateman saw both score early on and with Wilsden's defence of Sam Holdsworth and Thomas Williams knocking balls back from the half way line, the Shamrocks had a torrid first half.
The second half saw much the same, with the majority of play being Wilsden's. Excellent passes from Sam Holdsworth and Thomas Thornton, resulted in a further two goals and Wilsden were at a canter. The Shamrocks tried valiantly to stem the flow and never let their heads drop.
    Shelf A 0 v Wilsden A 2       2nd November 2003
Goal scorers: Matthew Blackhall and George Bateman
Man of the match Patrick Dixon
Whilst Wilsden had the majority of the possession and the best chances they were unable to take advantage and the first half ended nil, nil.

Wilsden again had most of the play in the Shelf half, shots from Kian Padden, Matthew Blackhall and several from George Bateman brought excellent saves from the Shelf keeper.
Shelf in turn made several good breaks, these were repelled by 3 or 4 last man tackles by Thomas Williams and Patrick Dixon in the Wilsden goal showing he was more than equal to the task, keeping yet another clean sheet, his best save coming from a rasping shot after it had hit the inside of his left hand post and threatened to cross the goal line.
The deadlock was finally broken with two excellent goals the pick of which was the effort from Matthew Blackhall.
The two goal keepers played exceptionally well, Patrick making excellent saves to keep his clean sheet and Shelf's keeping his team in the game.
A very tough game on a soft pitch.
      Bradford Tigers 1   v   Wilsden A 9      9th November 2003
George Bateman 4 Matthew Blackhall 3 Kian Padden 1
      MOTM Thomas Williams
After 5 unbeaten games the A team conceded a goal. Despite taking an early lead with goals from George Bateman (2) and Matthew Blackhall the Tigers struck back.
A powerful shot was well parried by Patrick Dixon, who was then unable to collect the ball as the Tigers player was laying on his legs, a supporting Tigers forward passed the ball in to the open net. 1 v 3 to Wilsden. More excellent play from both sides followed until Wilsden struck again, this was followed by several minutes of intense pressure by the Tigers just before the half time whistle.
After a quick team talk and a well earned drink Wilsden again took to the pitch.
The second half was a marked contrast with the Tigers never really threatening the Wilsden goal. On the occasions that they did mount a serious offence the Wilsden defense coped well, with Thomas Williams having an excellent game at the back and George Bateman and Matthew Blackhall running the midfield, Wilsden took charge of the game.
Cameron Butterfield went close two or three times his best effort coming after a run down the right hand touchline and just shooting wide. Two further goals by George Bateman, the second a 15-yard screamer into the top left hand corner, were easily match by the second and third for Matthew Blackhall, his hat-trick sealed with a mazy run passed 4 players and shooting low passed the keeper.
With only seconds remaining Kian Padden collected the ball at halfway and powered down the left hand side beating two players and slamming his left foot shot into the net, giving the diving keeper no chance.
With only seconds remaining Kian Padden collected the ball at halfway and powered down the left hand side beating two players and slamming his left foot shot into the net, giving the diving keeper no chance.
A good display by the A team on a heavy cramped pitch.
      Wilsden A 4 v Bradford Tigers 0     25th January 2004
Goals; George Bateman 1, George Bairstow 1, Matthew Blackhall 1, Kian Padden 1
Man of the Match; George Bairstow
The first half saw both teams playing good competitive football. Wilsden had most of the ball but the Tigers battled hard and went close on at least three or four occasions, only excellent goal keeping by Patrick Dixon or stalwart defending by Sam Holdsworth and Thomas Williams kept the Tigers out.
Wilsden’s pace and power in midfield and on the flanks caused the Tigers all sorts of problems. The first goal was a brilliant solo effort by George Bairstow, who picked up the ball inside his own half and surged up the right wing, beating two or three players he fired across the keeper and into the bottom left hand corner of the Tigers goal.
Good quick throws from Charlie Busby on the left touchline kept the pressure firmly in the Tigers half and excellent runs by Kian Padden and George Bateman saw Wilsden go very close. This was followed by a sustained period of pressure, producing a series of corners and the second goal which was tucked neatly away by Kian Padden.
The second half saw Wilsden increase their dominance with excellent passing moves through midfield and down both wings. Tackling back by Cameron Butterfield won the ball back on several occasions and enabled Wilsden to maintain pressure on the Tigers goal. Only fine goal keeping, good clearances and excellent tackling by the Tigers number 3, kept Wilsden at bay until George Bateman smashed home the third.
More good work by Thomas Thornton added to a determined run by Matthew Blackhall who beat two players on the edge of the tigers penalty area, wrong footed the keeper and netted the forth goal.
An excellent team spirit and togetherness was shown by players from both teams.
      Wilsden A 2 v Thackley 2     1st February 2004
      Goals; George Bateman 2
Man of the Match; Charlie Busby
The Wilsden Pitch was very waterlogged so this game was played at Thackley.
The first period saw Wilsden with a strong wind at their backs have the majority of the play in the Thackley half. George Bateman and Mathew Blackhall had good efforts saved forcing a corner. From the corner George Bateman struck a high in-swinging ball which the keeper could only palm into his own net. Despite further good attempts from Kian Padden, Charlie Busby and Sam Holdsworth who was only beaten by the woodwork after an excellent run from midfield, the Thackley defence held out.
The second half was a marked contrast, with the wind now against Wilsden an early goal was conceded when a kick from goalkeeper Patrick Dixon was caught up in the wind and Thackley were first to the ball.
A second for Thackley followed a long clearance by their keeper, the ball by-passing our midfield and falling to their striker who shot home. More fine defending by Thomas Williams, George Bairstow, Charlie Busby and safe hands by Patrick Dixon denied Thackley any further goals and now with time against Wilsden, a powerful run from inside his own half left both defenders and the keeper in his wake as George Bateman smashed home an equalizer from 15 yards.
A fine performance by Thackley who handled the strong wind far better than the Wilsden players.
      Keighley Shamrocks 0 v Wilsden A 9   8th February 2004
Scorers; Nick Hahn 3, George Bateman 2, Kian Padden 2, Matthew Blackhall 1, Sam Holdsworth 1.
      MOTM: Nick Hahn.
An early start on another windy Sunday saw Wilsden take a little while to "wake up". Defending from the half way line by Wilsden, meant Patrick Dixon in goal, had only the occasional back pass to deal with. Wilsden soon took the lead and at half time were 4 up.
The second half was more of the same for the Shamrocks with Wilsden having an even greater dominance on the game. Excellent goals from Kian Padden, Mathew Blackhall and Nick Hahn who completed his hat-trick with a low drive passed the keeper, followed some good passing moves in to space on the flanks.
The Shamrocks were now pinned in their own half, but Wilsden were still finding space. A superb pass from Nick Hahn sent George Bateman through to score and an excellent square ball almost the width of the pitch by George, enabled Sam Holdsworth to attack the defense and rifle his shot high into the net.
The Shamrocks' defence and especially their keeper, worked hard throughout the game and their efforts kept the score to single figures, but a powerful performance by Wilsden saw them win the game and clinch their division.
