Links

After letting in a couple of goals in early on, heads fell, which caused a 5 - 0 deficit after only 15 minutes.

Sponsors

On the positive side, the remainder of the match was much better, with Wilsden playing the better football and scoring 3 to only 2 in reply.

Squad Pages

September 19th: Harden Cullingworth 2 v 5 Wilsden

League Links

With the advantage of the slope and the wind, Wilsden totally dominated the first half to go in only drawing 2 - 2. With the conditions now in favour of Cullingworth & Harden, the second half was more even and with terrific performances from all the Wilsden players, and particularly Danny Bellwood in goal, ensured that the second half through hard work and determination was won 3 - 0 to give a deserved 5 - 2 win. You players reading this remember that we still have to play at home so don't rub it in at school too much because you never know what will happen in the next match.
Fundraising Committee September 26th: Wilsden 6 v 4 Earby Scorers: Todd Opacic, James Halliday, Mike Hudson, George Wall and Eliot Wilkinson (2)
Another solid performance gained a well deserved victory. Todd Opacic, James Halliday, Mike Hudson, George Wall and two from  Eliot Wilkinson showing that goals are available from all over the team. James Walker was Man of the Match, but special mention must go to James Halliday who caused havoc down the left hand side, working hard, scoring and delivering quality crosses all through the match.
Man of the Match: James Walker
    October 3rd: Skipton Town 6 v 1 Wilsden
Having let a goal in within 2 minutes a solid first half perforance gave a half time score of 1 - 1.
Unfortunately, some poor refereeing led to a drop of heads and a heavy 6 - 1 defeat.  It is fair to say that Skipton Town looked very strong going forward and did deserve the 3 points.
Another strong performance from captain Jamie Stewart who as usual never gave up.
October 17th: Embsay Wolves 4 v 4 Wilsden  Scorers: Eliot Wilkinson (3), Jamie Stewart
Wilsden dug deep to keep coming back from being behind all the way through this game. A full team effort combined with a superb individual performance from Eliot Wilkinson who scored three goals and was awarded the man of the match.
Unfortunately, some cynical tackles on Eliot ensured that he could not finish the game. Jamie Stewart again led by example and scored the other goal with a well-positioned header.
Man of the Match: Eliot Wilkinson
    October 31st: Heaton 9 v 0 Wilsden
Unfortunately, Wilsden could only field 10 men and consequently against a good Heaton team tired to eventually lose by a big margin. There were encouraging signs in this match that with a full strength team there is no reason why we cannot win the return leg at Thornton Primary School.
Man of the Match: Danny Bellwood
November 7th: Weston Lane 4 v 1 Wilsden Scorer: George Wall
Wilsden dominated the match but, unfortunately, defensive errors and a superb performanceby the Weston Lane 'keeper in the first half ensured Weston Lane got all three points. Unfortunately, in the second half, again with more possession, Wilsden ran out of ideas in the 18-yard box and, to be fair, didn't really make their 'keeper make a save.
As we pushed forward we always looked vulnerable to the counter-attack. Special note must go to Ton Greenwood and Jamie Stewart, who totally controlled the match from the centre of midfield, but just lacked that killer pass or creative runsfrom the other lads. Never mind, there's always next week!
Man of the Match: Eliot Wilkinson
November 14th: Bankfoot Villa 1 v 2 Wilsden  Scorers: Jamie Stewart & Michael Hudson
In difficult conditions, relating to both the weather and the pitch, Wilsden were made to work very hard to obtain the 3 points.
Generally, we were on top and deserved the win. At one nil up, Chris Dale headed onto the crossbar from a quality corner which, if it had gone in, could have led to a more convincing scoreline.
After Bankfoot equalised, it was with only five minutes to go that the winning goal went in.
This was very much a team performance.
More individual flair will be required to ensure we win next week's game against Nab Wood.
Man of the Match: Danny Bellwood
November 28th: Wilsden 4 v 4 Skipton Town  Scorers: Eliot Wilkinson, George Wall (2) and Michael Hudson
Wilsden began well going into a quick 3 – 0 lead before switching of for the last 10 minutes of the first half and letting in 3 goals to be level at half time.
After letting in an early goal at the start of the second half Wilsden got back in the game eventually getting a deserved equalizer. With almost the last kick of the match Eliot Wilkinson having previously gone close on a few occasions thundered a free kick from over 20 yards out on to the cross bar.
Probably a fair result with both teams having good attacking spells. But credit for Wilsden for not letting their heads drop when going behind after leading 3 -0.
    Man of the Match:
January 16th: Skipton Town 7 v 1 Wilsden (League Cup Quarter Final)  Scorer: Eliot Wilkinson

Turning up with 3 subs and a full strength squad the optimism didn’t last as Skipton fired in 4 goals in the first half. The second half was far better and really should have seen 3 or 4 goals to make a more respectable scoreline. Eliot Wilkinson after a quite first half was dominant in the second period and created a string of opportunities.

Danny Bellwood was superb in goal and was unlucky in that his saves fell on a couple of occasions to a Skipton player to tap in.

Man of the Match: Danny Bellwood
January 30th: Wilsden 1 v 2 Embsay Wolves   Scorer: Eliot Wilkinson

Wilsden played superb in the first half providing good football and one of the most one sides 35min of the season. Unfortunately we were unable to turn possession into goals.

The second half was closer with Wilsden still edging the play. Two goals from free kicks gave Embsay the lead with a great strike from Eliot giving Wilsden some hope. In the closing stages the woodwork denied a draw which was the least that Wilsden deserved.

Man of the Match: Eliot Wilkinson
    February 20th: Burley Trojans 8 v 2 Wilsden   Scorers: James Walker, o.g.

Without Captain Jamie Stewart (holiday) leading by example this was the worst performance of the season. Less said the better.

Man of the Match: Danny Bellwood
March 6th: Wilsden 1 v 1 Nab Wood   Scorer: Todd Opacic

After the disappointing last outing this was a superb battling performance. The game was very competitive but played in a good spirit amongst a lot of players who new each other from school. Tom Greenwood and Jimmy Walker were solid at the back and the usual committed performance from Jamie Stewart ensures a good all round team performance.

On balance neither team deserved to lose and a draw was fair result.

We now need to take this forward into the next games and get some wins under our belt.

Man of the Match: Eliot Wilkinson
March 13th: Wilsden 1 v 16 Heaton Scorer: Michael Hudson
And on to the next game.
Man of the Match: Jamie Stewart

March 20th: Earby 7 v 2 Wilsden   Scorers: Michael Smith & George Wall

Man of the Match: Tom Greenwood

April 3rd: Wilsden 6 v 1 Cullingworth & Harden   Scorers: Michael Smith (2), George Wall (2), Jamie Stewart & Mike Hudson

Excellent first half gave a 5 – 0 lead, unfortunately Cullingworth & Harden were a man down. The second half was a bit more low key but a lot of chances were still created. Another good game for Jamie Stewart who controlled the midfield and also Michael Smith our new signing who is improving with each game.

Man of the Match: Jamie Stewart
April 10th: Bankfoot Villa 3 v 5 Wilsden   Scorers: Michael Smith, Jimmy Walker, Mike Hudson & Jamie Stewart (2)
After being 3 - 0 down at half time an excellent second half  performance gave a 5 goals to 3 victory .
Eliot Wilkinson been instrumental in the second half after coming on as sub.
Man of the Match: Jamie Stewart
