19th September: Horsforth 1 v 0 Wilsden  Man of the Match: Harry Ellison

Links

Our first game of the season was a close one and we were unlucky not to come away with at least a draw. Playing downhill in the first half we put them under pressure but couldn't find the net. Horsforth scored a fine goal 5 minutes into the second halfwhich fired us up again. 5 minutes from time Jamie was unlucky not to score after a good save from their keeper. Both Thomas and  Sam made their debuts.

Squad Pages

Our first home game. Shipley elected to play uphill in the first half. Both Harry and George came close, hitting the post and crossbar in a half that we dominated. In the second half, we came out fired up and kept them under pressure with George scoring a cracker from over 10 yards.

3rd October: Cowling 0 Wilsden 6   Man Of Match   Joseph Wain
Fundraising Committee It was a fine autumn morning at Cowling who as always made us welcome although the pitch was on the heavy side. We are now learning how to pass the ball and this showed with some fine performances throughout the team. Especially our midfield, who scored 4 of our goals. Harry (1) Callum (1) George (2) our other goals came from our lone striker,  Jamie. Our man of the match was Joseph for some fine running with the ball and tackling in midfield. As usual our defence remained organised to secure our second successive clean sheet.
10th October: Wilsden 1 Nab Wood 2   Man Of Match   Callum Slack
After last weeks fine result we were hoping for a home victory, however lady luck just was not on our side. Nab Wood went in front with a fine solo effort then Jamie scored a fine goal to equalise. George, Harry and Jamie all hit the woodwork (Plastic) with many other shots just going wide. In the closing stages the visitors were awarded a penalty for a late tackle which they duly scored. Man of the match was Callum for a great display down the left combined with some great tackling.
17th October: Dudley Hill 2 Wilsden 4   Man Of Match   Jamie Slack
After last weeks shock defeat the team were all fired up and it showed as we played some fantastic football in the first half with a great hat trick from Jamie and a fine solo effort from George. Our passing and movement was excellent and we now seem be really getting it together. Dudley Hill came back after half time and were awarded a penalty for hand ball late on in the game but the boy's gritted their teeth and made sure we came away with all 3 points. Man of the Match was Jamie for our first ever hat trick.
31st October: Wilsden 2 v 1 Guiseley Yellows  Man of the Match: Oliver Lawn
Today was a game of some great individual performances but was not one of our best team efforts. Despite this we managed to be 2 - 0 up at half time after another 2 great goals from Jamie with Oliver coming close after an excellent run. In the second half we gave Joseph Fortune a spell in goal after some great performances in friendlies. Guiseley came out determined and grabbed one back. As usual our defence remained solid and we managed to maintain our lead and bag another 3 points. Man of the Match was Oliver for his best performance yet and was unlucky not to score after a fine run.
    Scorer: Jamie Slack (2)
7th November: Wilsden 2 v 1 Shipley Panthers  Man Of Match  Andrew Awcock
This was always going to be a close run thing with the Panthers lying just ahead of us in the league. Our first half performance from everyone was fantastic. Harvey in goal had his busiest game of the season and pulled off some amazing saves. Our defence were very organised and passed the ball out to midfield with precision. Callum came on for Jamie up front and within a couple of minutes scored after some great movement from George and Harry. A few minutes later Harry hit a thunderbolt, which took a slight deflection off  a Panther player and gave their goalie no chance. Just before half time Harvey had to make yet another great save .We knew the Panthers would come straight at us in the second half and they scored within 2 minutes of kick off. The rest of the game was well-fought one and both teams created chances. However we remained disciplined and managed to take the 3 points that took us into second place just behind our next opponents Horsforth. Man of the Match went to Andrew for his best game yet. His tackling and timing in defence was great to watch.
14th November: Wilsden 0 v 0 Horsforth    Man Of Match  Harvey Craven
A top of the table clash and it was always going to be a nail biter. This game had everything but goals and had all of us on our toes at all times. Horsforth obviously had respect for us and played 3 at the back Despite this we managed to create a few chances with Jamie, George and Joseph coming close. Their Keeper making some fine saves when called to do so. We carried our discipline forward from last week and although Horsforth created plenty of chances our defence remained strong and effective. The battle was won in midfield, with George winning lots of early ball. Congratulations to both teams for a great game played in the right spirit. Depending on other results we will hopefully be still second, ready for next week’s away fixture at an in form Shipley Pumas. We have now only conceded 7 goals from 8 games 2 of which were penalties. Man of the Match was Harvey for keeping another clean sheet and another string of excellent saves.
21st November: Shipley Pumas 2 v 3 Wilsden  Man Of Match: Dominic Daibell
It was a bitterly cold morning and the allocated pitch was unplayable. However, a makeshift pitch was prepared and this important top of the table clash could go ahead. Within 15 minutes, we were 3 - 0 up, with goals coming from Callum, Jamie and probably our first headed goal coming from George. However, the Pumas are an in-form side and we knew they would come back at us. Our defence held firm to keep the lead at half-time. the usual thing happened in the second half when we lost a bit of concentration and shape. The Pumas took advantage of this, scoring 2 goals, thus making for a tense last 5 minutes. We regrouped and defended well to keep the lead and take all three points. Man of the Match was Dominic for a fine defensive display, with some fearless tackling and good distribution.
Scorers: Callum Slack, Jamie Slack and George Brown
January 30th: Guiseley Yellows 1 v 2  Wilsden   Scorers: Harry Ellison & Jamie Slack

During a period of prolonged pressure Wilsden scored their first goal  (Harry Ellison) mid way through the first half. We continued to dominate and create chances without any further success until the half time interval. As Wilsden appeared to tire Guiseley got back into the game and enjoyed their fair share of possession in the second half. After a couple of goal mouth scrambles Guiseley deservedly score to make the score 1 all with 10 minutes remaining. It was a tense final 10 mins for all the Wilsden supporters. Even though we scored the best goal of the game (Jamie Slack) Guiseley continued to pressure us. Fortunately we managed to hold on and claim all 3 points 2 - 1. A fair result on balance of play.

Man of the Match - Calum Slack - For outstanding defensive work, strong runs with the ball and some great mid pitch headers - Well done!

March 13th: Wilsden 4 v 0 Nab Wood   Scorers: George Brown (2), Harry Ellison & Jamie Slack
