When King Dovecotes began, we wanted to build the best Dovecote on the market and not to compromise the quality in any way. We believe we have achieved that and are sure you will agree. The designs are varied so that you the customer, have a greater selection from which to choose. We are sure you will find one to your liking.

Our Dovecotes are made of the finest materials available. The bodies and roofs are made from hand selected pine. Once the dovecotes are made, they are then painted in a satin finish, or stained. They are crowned with a copper top and finial. The dovecotes are erected on pressure treated 6in x 6in posts unless other wise specified.

For thousands of years, Dovecotes have been specially made buildings just to house doves. Some of these buildings, have been very large and have held up to 6,000 doves. Way back, from Egyptian times until a few hundred years ago, the basic idea for a Dovecote had not changed as a source of food. Only the owners of the Cote (usually very wealthy men) could order the doves to be killed for the table. If anyone was caught killing a dove without permission, the sentence could be death. Luckily, things have changed since those days and now the Dovecote has reduce in size and become a much more aesthetic feature to the garden.
