MUGA – MULTI-USE GAMES AREA – MARLING CLOSE
The MUGA was officially opened on Saturday 13th September 2008 by Olympic Gold Medal winner, Peter Reed, from Nailsworth.

We are grateful to the Stroud News & Journal for allowing us to reproduce their photograph here - the actual photograph, which is much better than our reproduction, can be obtained from the SNJ by quoting the above reference.
The construction costs of £51,510 are being met by grants from the village’s Marling’s Close Trust, the Big Lottery Fund through Stroud District Council and by our Parish Council.
Kings Stanley Parish Council has assumed responsibility for this facility which is intended to be available and open free to all parishioners of King's Stanley - not just men and boys, so, as stated in the October magazine article: It is there for anyone to use – as long as they follow rules posted up. It would be great to see girls of all ages playing netball, volleyball etc there – go for it girls or the men will beat you to it! Set up your own local team, keep fit for free & have fun at the same time!
