NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH OFTEN BRINGS MESSAGES WHICH ARE PASSED ON VIA THE VILLAGE NOTICEBOARD

THIS IS A GENERAL MESSAGE FOLLOWING THE DOWN-TURN IN THE ECONOMY THAT SEEMS TO HAVE BROUGHT WITH IT A DESIRE TO STEAL OTHER PEOPLE’S PROPERTY.  THIEVES HAVE BEEN TARGETING WORKMEN’S VANS PARKED IN THE ROAD, EVEN WELL-SECURED ONES RECEIVE THEIR ATTENTION; OFTEN CONSIDERABLE FORCE IS USED.  TOOLS STOLEN RECENTLY INCLUDE A PETROL DISC CUTTER AND BOSCH DRILL.

GARDEN SHEDS ARE ANOTHER FAVOURITE FOR GETTING HOLD OF YOUR BELONGINGS.

IF YOU WANT TO HANG ONTO YOURS, THINK AGAIN!

Gloucestershire Constabulary always likes to hear what YOU have to say & would love to involve YOU (YES YOU) in its local work.  YOU could attend Police Community Consultative Meetings that circulate around the area or YOU could be a local Panel Member (YOU do not even have to attend meetings, but give YOUR views/local knowledge to PCSOs - Police Community Support Officers.

The Police number for non-emergencies 0845 090 1234 is charged at the local rate.  YOU can ask to be put through to Stonehouse Police Station or YOU can leave a message for someone, eg the PCSOs  to contact YOU.

Please do visit the Constabulary website at www.gloucestershire.police.uk  It has been improved & expanded, is easy to navigate and YOU will find lots of information there, including about our Stonehouse Safer Community Team.

THE POLICE HAVE MUCH EXPERTISE AND CAN IMPROVE LOCAL LIFE – BUT IT’S MUCH EASIER WITH THE COMMUNITY’S HELP THAN WITHOUT IT.

FINALLY, WHY NOT VISIT THE MOBILE POLICE STATION WHEN IT IS NEXT VISITING US HERE?  TIMES AND DATES ARE POSTED ON THE KSVG NOTICE BOARD MONTHLY.

MOBILE POLICE STATION

Mobile Police Station usually visits our parish twice a month, usually around 8.45-9.30am.  It parks in our main Car Park and dates and times are displayed on the KS Village Green Notice Board.  Please telephone this number if you want to ask about its next visit as I cannot always display dates here.   Mobile no 07734 068276   The MPS will be staffed mainly by PAUL BOWMAN but sometimes other personnel including SDC Officers and Police Community Support Officers.    This is clearly a useful opportunity for anyone to talk to the Police, especially if something is troubling you.

Sometimes MPS visits include members of staff from Stroud District Council who will be there to deal with any queries you may have on local council matters that concern you.  SDC has a very proactive Community Safety Team who help our community by providing the Neighbourhood Warden visits in The Stanleys'.  Since January 2007 Simon Moulding has been active in the Stanleys' Parishes for the equivalent of one day a week which is paid for by KSPC and LSPC - a very useful person to have in support of the Police.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WATCH ASSOCIATION

The Parish Council recommends the association to any concerned parishioners who might think of setting up a group in their locality.  It need not be very onerous or officious - that's up to you - it could be a way of meeting new people and the start of new friendships -

Specific messages may occasionally be printed here from the Valleys & Vale Neighbourhood Watch Association.  We are all reminded to be more security-conscious & vigilant for bogus callers who wish to gain entry into your house.  If in doubt, keep them out.

NEIGHBOURHOOD WARDEN SERVICE

After a free 3 month trial of Stroud District Council's successful Neighbourhood Warden Service,  both LS and KS Parishes have been benefitting from the regular visits of a Neighbourhood Warden and  both Parish Councils now make a modest annual contribution towards the cost of their time and he service continues.  The Warden has been visiting the Stanleys for the equivalent of a day a week, varying visiting times to get to know the community, its people and he now knows the area well.  NWs can help the community in many ways.  NWs will spot where help from another service might be needed and make sure it gets there as they liaise with the Police and other service providers.  Their uniforms and transport are distinctive and they will carry identity.    Should you wish to contact our Neighbourhood Warden his details are as follows:
